Mobil 1 Synthetic used oil color

Hello all.

Mobil 1 Synthetic Red after 5000k Miles. 2024 Honda Accord w/ 14,500k miles

I am no rookie when it comes to working on cars. BUT I have never seen this before after an oil change. My Mobil 1 Synthetic 0-20 oil has a very red tint to it after this oil change. I did have moisture around the bell housing that the dealer apparently wiped away when I had them check it, so I wiped it today (for the first time if they ever did do that). I am starting to think this is a rear main seal issue. I have never seen this before and I read that this can be normal for a mobil synthetic to change color (red). Does this look right based on my pictures? ps this is my own car and I no longer work at a shop.

I’ve never seen that either. I have seen a red hue to the oil but it didn’t look like red ATF like your oil. I’d use a different oil and see if it happens with that oil too.

My Valvoline EP has had a reddish hue to it the last few times I drained it from my Mustang, but I didn’t bottle it like you did I just noticed it as it drained. So I don’t know if it was that red or not. Pretty sure I had seen that before also but I can’t swear to it now.

I guess get a UOA if you’re concerned, I’m not.

That’s what it is. This is either pure ATF or grossly contaminated oil.

I have had Mobil 1 0W40 FS come out looking like that.
