Ummm, No. And what are you talking about, this post seems to polarize, seems to have a little more positive response that negative and is completely, perhaps unfortunately, on topic.

I love it! That could have been it's own thread.

Now point me to this one: "Interesting Real World Oil Saga" I gotta find out what happens there.

This one made me lol.

Don't leave the "real synthetic" threads from the list.

Thanks for (admitting to:)) liking the thread. This is a good one, and I would say that this has a related one, which is that Castrol is junk because they spend all their money on advertising.

My favorite is: "What oil should I use that will hold up to the heat in my area" as if no where on the continent is any hotter or as hot as they are!

I get the thread now; I just didn't think the OP was very funny, since the tone seemed condescending toward oil newbies. Here's mine:

I use 0W-30 because the winters here in CT are pretty brutal, sometimes dipping down into the teens!

Oh yeah? I drain the oil from my car, strain it through a pair of panty hose, and put it in my truck. Im tricking my truck into thinking its fresh oil - and it runs fine.

Like QuattroPete said "What is the point of the thread" ?

It can't be off topic cause there is no point to this.

Bored BITOGers amusement maybe ?

I have to laugh at these. Our Canuck friends are laughing even more with their 30 below or colder winters.

So when I put what a deal; it was vague and non descriptive? Ah so in the future I will put what a deal on Quaker State oil at Walmart aka Wally in the synthetic Ultra Durable. In all flavors as some like to say but really mean weights as it is known by others. On the East Coast Of America.

You don't have to post or click on the thread if you don't like what you see buddy!

My favorite "dumb" question is: Newbie here...I have 185k on my truck that I've owned since new. Please recommend me a oil that will be good for 5K oci's.

WTH!?! You obviously went 185k without major problems due to oil, so stick to what you already that works. Right!?!

Right, and even without the background and the high mileage, practically any correct specification oil for any car is good for 5k intervals!
