What oil and viscosity would you recommend for a 2025 GLI

2025 GLI 2.0TSI EA888 engine. Brand new out of the box it calls for a 0W20. I know thos same engine in previous years used a 5W40. This car will be stage 1 tuned. Would you run a 0W20 assuming the warranty is out of the picture? Or would you opt for a thicker grade of oil? Also brand? Liqui moly, amsoil, motul, Mobil 1 ect? The plan would be to keep this car for 10 years or so, so long term reliability is vitally important. I look forward to your recommendations.

Mobil1 ESP 0W30. Mostly because it contains esters that can make an oil film on parts when the engine is shut off and provides faster lubrication on a cold start. Something to consider for the thrust washer.

How do you intend to drive it? Like Grandma going to church on Sunday? Or like someone left the keys in it with a sign in the window saying "take me?"

Me personally I would use Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W-40 from the get go. If price/availability is a concern, Mobil 1 ESP 0/5W-30 from Walmart @$28/5qts. Wringing your hands over warranty concerns? Mobil 1 ESP 0W-20 (also from Wally), then switch over to ESP 0/5W-30 or 0W-40 afterwards. Planning to tune it? (that engine takes VERY well to tuning) Look to any of the 40wts. that have VW 502.00 or MB 229.5.

The 504 30 grades are a good choice here. Brand? Everyone has their primarily irrationally-based choice here so take them for what they are worth. Me? If you want easy the Walmart M1 route. Online and want to do the "free" FCP thing...Liquimoly. Approval is approval here for the most part so go with color and design of bottles. You can certainly run a 502 40 grade as well but it's unnecessary based on your description.

I think he just called me irrational 😁.

You didn't say where you lived, but I would run 5W-40 regardless of the warranty. That is of course, assuming you don't live in a severe frigid Winter climate.
VW 502 5W-40 forever in my opinion for what that's worth.

That's generally what the VW enthusiast community does but they also think that 0W oils are "like water" and that a 504 0W30 is "way too thin bro". Could also consider the 511 40 grade for a lower SAPS higher viscosity alternative to 502s.
