Haldex oil g060145 alternative?

Seems to be quite a few alternatives around. I need to do the Haldex oil on our XC70 soon so also interested in the tried and tested alternatives.

It's a homopolymer (full synthetic). And the oem(and febi) is hydrocracked

No it isn't a full synthetic.

According to the SDS (not a formulary) it contains 7 base oils including various non-synthetic paraffinic base oils.

What are the last two chemical components listed?

What are the chemical compounds contained in the OEM fluid? Unless you know this fact you have no idea if this product is comparable. You have to rely on the TDS and marketing literature to determine if it is compatible.

The Haldex unit is a very expensive piece of equipment to replace.

It has a very small oil capacity. You are only buying 1 quart, so why take a chance with anything other than specifically approved fluid?

That said, Liqui-Moly, generally makes pretty good products, and I would trust the Ravenol as well.

When you do the Haldex fluid on your Volvo, change the filter as well.

Ravenol, full synthetic. I think close to $30 on their web site. This is on Atlas. I still have to change it on Tiguan soon.

Yeah, the Volvo OEM is about $40 a liter. There is no cheap alternative to this fluid, but this is a case where saving a couple bucks on one quart and blowing up something that cost $2000 to replace is a false economy.

Already on the case! Gearbox oil change next month, then I'll probably do the bevel gear, Haldex unit and rear diff in December. The thought of removing the propshaft and input flange is a little daunting though.

That can be a bit of a pain, depending on the amount of corrosion.

For the clarity, I don't do it for the money, there won't be big profits to make, I just want the best. It's not because they make the haldex it automatically is the best oil. (I think). Maybe better safe than sorry and stay with the oem...

I think I paid $30 for a liter of OEM Volvo fluid for my Haldex 2 years ago.

It appears to be $42 now.

Ouch.

Still, the real cost is the two hours of putting the car up, disconnecting the driveshaft, and changing the fluid and filter.

In the context of all that, and extra $12 hurts but it’s only a small part of the service.

I have been using Vaico and Febi fluids in the Haldex units in my fleet from FCP. Liquimoly seems to be the cheapest at $30 from Summit Racing.
