This has been more reading than I ever anticipated, but here I am on an oil forum learning so many exciting things. Figured I'd make a post in the event anyone has a fresh oil analysis on this liqui moly to share or not to compare additive packages. For how long it's been on the market, I'm surprised I haven't been able to find more about it. I just ordered a bottle to do the transfer case on my 3rd gen tacoma that calls for Toyota 08885-81081, aka the $80/L liquid gold without much info on it. Liqui Moly lists right on the product page that it suits this toyota part #, so I'm not concerned about it. Just hoping to get some more insight to share back on the toyota forum. Most of them are putting the same diff fluid in the t-case to avoid the added cost, and this is so cheap it seems silly to not just get this... https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/top-t...ml#tab-label-approvalsandspecifications-title
Some also opt to go with redline MT-LV, however redline is sold in quarts so you're left with 950ml sitting on your shelf for 30k miles. Dealers seem to frequently use their bulk barrel 75w-90 GL5 fluid as it won't break it, and this is why so many just do the same, but I can't help but feel it's not the best thing for it given Toyota states 75W and I've never trusted dealers. If they can't manage to put on an oil filter properly, why would anyone trust their margin focused service departments. My first oil change post-dealer freebie I was rewarded with a cracked filter housing and no crush washer to be found on my drain plug.
