I was serious, I though that back label with the chart showing the oils against each other was the same as the one for new look of Black-bottle Edge, so it was a new label.

Nope I appreciate your feedback.
I thought it might be a reintro but no listing on the Castrol website and a few here have SP from early on and the price looks like they are trying to sell older oil to people who really want it. So at this point the evidence is weighing in that it's old product .
Not sure but I would like to see it back. I will keep checking to see.

Castrol still says it discontinued.
I wonder if they released a bunch of old stock to the public as Napa even has it.

Walmart is listing it sent out of NY.

I just called Castrol and they are unaware of any new Magnatec .
Although the help line was unaware that Magnatec was FS..as they thought it was only made as a SS...of course I sent him a picture...shock...

The backside of the bottle bottom to the right and not the label will have a letter followed by the first two numbers like 24 would mean it really is new...if you see it you can check. He said the bottom of the back but check both sides...

As previously noted Castrol Magnatec was the quietest running oil I encountered. When I put it in my Taurus I could not hear the engine running. I used it almost exclusively in my Ford Transit work vans.

Mobil 1 is just as quiet if you turn off the engine. Just a little tidbit for you Walt...

Magnatec was available in Australia before the US, and now I wonder if it remained afterwards. They even got it in a 10w40 I don't think we did here. However, with the way marketing and distribution goes, I can not confirm or deny if it was the same product.

Maybe called Magnatec Stop Start or something like that?

Magnatec is still available in AUS in three versions: Start stop, fuel saver, and DX. On this side of the pond they call it GTX full synthetic. I doubt it is much different between continents, but some of the AUS versions appear to be ACEA cert.

Here are pictures of the ones that I have, clearly difference with the labels but could be different stock photos that are being used. This is Dexos1 Gen2 but I wonder if they pulled it from market because it wouldn't pass Gen3... also this might be when they removed it from the market is when 3 came out. Maybe Australia as mentioned but the other one Zee09 posted on the first page with the red cap is a 5L jug so definitely not from this market.

Walmart list a NY vendor as the distributor. I may give them a call tomorrow. They are supplying 6 pack quarts. I have plenty in all weights but it would be nice to know how old this stuff is...a guess 2022
