Hey guys. I currently have an Amsoil oil filter on my boat, with amsoil oil. It is getting near time to winterize, and I was going to use a PureOne filter on it because they are $6.50, show to filter very good, and since it is a boat, it is not like I am putting 15k miles on the engine every year. Now, I was visiting the newer Walmart by my house (not my normal WM, this one is a little further) and I see that they carry the Mobil 1 filter for about $8.00. Now, do I just go with my first idea of running the PO, or spend another $1.50 and get the M1?? I read somewhere that the M1 is rated at a higher micron level. My main concern is filtration, not extended life because it is a boat. BTW,this is a FL1A style filter.

that is the thing... if it was Pepboys, $12.99 but at $1.50 is the difference from me buying a Coke through the checkout =)

Sweet, Thanks for the heads up. Thats only 20 min from my house

Not sure what you mean by "rated at a higher micron"? The PureOne is more efficient at all micron levels than the M1. The only thing the M1 might have over the P1 is amount of long term mileage.

What I meant was that it it was not rated as well as the Amsoil or PureOne. I guess I stated that wrong. Does anyone have real numbers or at least claimed M1 numbers?

Are we still gauging our ratings on the engineer's original email? The one that he can't find time to verify?
