Gordon Lightfoot passed away.

RIP
IDK how long Gordon had been on the scene at that time but, I remember when I first heard Gordon on the radio.
It was on my AM radio and I believe it was - "If you could read my mind love" here in the U.S.
Then I saw him on a PBS special. Great entertainer!

That actually is my favorite song by him...Back in the early 70s I actually saw him at the Front Row in Cleveland Ohio..

My first concert as a kid maybe 10. A funny smell in the air, and older people rocking out to Sundown. Little did, or could I know, that an even older tune of his would one day make it to my all time top 10.

“I’d walk away, like a movie star, who gets burned in a three way script.”

The boys are trying to win it for you, Gord. RIP.

Not sure how the American charts work but Gordon had four #1 hits at the top of the US AC charts.

If you could read my mind is one of my all-time favorite songs

If you could read my mind, love
What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishing well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
And I will never be set free
As long as I am a ghost, you can't see

Had the honor of meeting him once, he, his band and pilots were pleasant;

New Haven, CT Airport. Early 90's. Ironically, I had tickets to see him earlier in the Summer at a concert on Cape Cod that was cancelled due to his illness. Later that Summer, I flew my girlfriend (now Wife) to New Haven to see some friends. As we were leaving, a beautiful older Canadian registered jet, a Hawker HS.125, pulled next to our tired looking Piper Cherokee on the ramp. The Hawker had hush kits and I took a few steps over to look. Gordon and his band exited the airplane, saw me looking and made small talk. One said "Like the cookie cutters?" (slang for hush kits). "Pop in" another said. I mentioned that I had tickets for heir cancelled show and they offered seats at that night's show at Yale, but I had to be back for work early the next day. One of my less than stellar decisions as I should have gone.

Got to see him up here last year and a couple years earlier. He was touring till the end.

A friend from High School introduced me to his music - and not just the "Top 40 Stuff" we go deep into the albums.

He has has quite a catalogue of great songs - and he left them as a great gift to us all.
