Country singer, Ian Tyson has died.

Ian Tyson, probably best known for the song, Four Strong Winds, has passed away at age 89. Not sure how much play time he got in the USA, but he was a Canadian Country Icon.
It's very ironic that just this week while surfing the net I rediscovered his song Sometime Soon and listened to many versions. Judy Collins made it popular around 1969 and Suzy Bogguss made it hers in the early 90's. I'm a casual country music fan. I used to hate the steel guitar sound. Now I appreciate all the different stringed instruments.

89 years is a good run. Respect and RIP to Ian Tyson

My Dad would play either an Ian Tyson or a Hank Snow album once in a while, usually on a cold winter Saturday morning, reading a book with a mug of coffee nearby. Hearing Four Strong Winds again brings back good memories of Dad.

Here you go. Maybe you recognize some people that covered his music.
