Canadian singer and song writer Gordon Lightfoot passed away at age 84. Bitoggers probably knew him best for his song The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

One of my all-time favourites. Consider myself very lucky to have made it to one of his shows, it was amazing!
His catalogue is timeless and has something that almost everyone knows and likes.

Not sure how the American charts work but Gordon had four #1 hits at the top of the US AC charts.
Another good one gone. I remember hearing his songs on the radio in the 70's. His music never really was my thing but the older I get the more I appreciate that style of singing/songwriting like Gordon Lightfoot, Jackson Browne and some others like them. RIP.
My Dad used to play his records when I was a kid, but I seem to remember this song best.
Gordon Lightfoot was one of the great musicians from my youth. I have always had a thing for the ballads.
The radio stations with the "AC" (Adult Contemporary) format generally target an older demographic than the stations with the top 40 format. Which may account for why songs chart higher on one chart than another.
