Hi Guys,
This GF4 formulation has me in a quandry.

For my 1997 Accord, I have 15 quarts of the free Maxlife. Herein lies my problem: Should I get rid of it and get some of the new GF4 Motorcrat 5W30 or DriveClean 5W30? Or, should I resist my BITOG-induced OCD and use up the Maxlife first.

Sheesh...sometimes I wish I never found this place.

NOTE: Yesterday, I returned 4 five-quart jugs of SuperTech full synthetic to WallyWorld. But, I resisted the urge to buy the new oils. LOL

We all know the feeling. I returned all my SL rated Syntec Blend and Pennzoil and bought the same stuff, just the new SM rated oils.

Found out that the PZ 5w-20 and 5w-30 dino's have been SM for a couple months now. For $6.77/jug, it's hard to beat.

I think many of us,including myself, have become a little top obsessed with oil.

Don't get me wrong,I really like this site and it is very informational but we can get to wrapped up in oil.

I personally see no reason not to use the MaxLife.
It seems that it is a good oil and I don't think using it will harm your car in any way.

I also see no reason not to use the ST.I went and bought 5 quarts last night.
It has shown to be a good oil and until proven otherwise,I see no reason to not use it.

While the new SM standards are out, many, many have went 100-200+ thousand miles with SL rated oil.
SL rated oils have been for the most part, good oils and have done well.

We don't even know for sure that the new SM oils will be any better than the SL.
Many believe that it will be but until it is used by several and for any length of time,we just cant honestly say.

Before a conclusion can be reached regarding such,UOA's by several different people and vehicles will have to be done to prove the SM's worth on older and newer vehicles.

As I said,I think we may be getting a little to obsessed with oil.Use the MaxLife and don't worry about it.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Given the choice I would take back the GF-4 stuff and get some Maxlife--good stuff with about 15% PAO (MSDS CAS # per BITOG poster interpretations).

Use the FREE Maxlife up first. With the money you save you can go to Krogh's and have quite a few of their most delicious pub brewed beers

. Your vehicles will not notice whether you're using SL or SM and will last the same. You need to detox from BITOG and I know no better way than Krogh's. For moral support I'm sure we can get Mikep to join us if you bribe him with Krogh's Oatmeat Stout

Thanks motorguy222 and others. It is easy to get carried away here! You just helped another person from going to the Betty Ford clinic for oil dependency!

After that could we go to Casa Mia's for a few
slices? I may work up an appetite bending my elbow at Krogh's.

Howdy!
