I finally have one that's not already listed:

"Power Pack" heads, as possibly found on a small block Chevy V-8. According to those who knew way back then, my '57 Chevy had 'em- there were several different kinds of sbC heads, identified by small "picture-code"-castings on the front end of the head. The '57 also came with a Carter WCFB carburetor(I always thought of it as the world's oldest 4-barrel!

), complete with oil bath

air cleaner.

And btw- remember when "Hurst shifter" was a big deal?

And then there was Dad's old '58 Ford pickup that I learned to drive on- drove like "a square-wheeled oxcart".

I can't stop laughing about the "3/4 race cam" bee ess.

Another one you here..........."I got a some cam work"..........what the [censored] does that mean? You either have a new cam or you don't. Or you either have new rockers or you don't etc.

What exactly is your definition of speed shifting? I've heard it described a number of different ways, nothing consistent from one person to the next. I was under the impression that it was basically starting off in second and getting the RPM's up high enough to skip gears between shifts.

I thought speed shifting was shifting without letting your foot off the accelerator pedal--or is that Power Shifting?

The two most obvious terms haven't been mentioned yet, but they are hiding in plain site. They have been accepted into mainstream language, so most of us don't think of them as offbeat anymore.

or flat shifting here.

Not good for the engagement dogs.......or the engine on one without rev limiter......

When setting up a race, terms that always get thrown around are:

"On motor" No nitrous

"Squeeze" Nitrous

"On tire" Slicks

"The move" The race is started by the car that gets the move. The other car reacts to his movement.

"Space" Headstart

"Chase is a race" If one guy jumps before the race is started and the other guy instinctively goes too but backs off, it's still a race.

"It's just a little V6" My saying just to annoy people that seems to work surprisingly well.
