i had a guy tell me the other day that i should not run ethanol gas in my equipment, including my exmark mower, what do you guys think ?

You shouldn't run gas that is more than 10% ethanol in equipment.

Up to 10% will be fine - you've probably been using it for years!

How do you get gas that does NOT have ethanol? The pumps all list it as a potential ingredient of up to 10% around here.

I just picked up a free two year old brigs 4.5 horse. The engine runs strong on 10%e but the primer bulb has turned in to red goo. Did 10%E do this i don't know but i have never seen that happen on real gas.

Exactly! My new Troy Built/Honda mower has a sticker atop the engine that states this.

The primer bulb, according to B&S, deteriorates because of stale gas.

I have a mower that was never used on 10% ethanol (it stopped running before 10% ethanol became available here) and the primer bulb was deteriorated. (It had been sitting in the backyard at my rental property for several years, one of the previous tenants left it...it needed the valves cleaned...after doing that it started).

Not gonna drive a hundred miles to get gas. So 10% here it comes.

One problem is that it may be > 10% EtOH at the pump.
