Ok, I have some very diverse friends!!! By that I mean I accept anyone that is a good honest person. So I have friends from 18 to 80 year's of age. Well this friend is 18 and female but she has a very old soul and is just a great person!!!

So she email's me this form her Dad sent her for anyone that want's to date her. It ask's all kinds of personel questions includeing best time to talk to your parent's,pastor,friends,etc.........How many year's parent's have been married,SSN,Driver's Lic #, finacial report etc.........I laughed so hard!!! I could not belive anyone would think that their daughter would actualy ask guy's at college to fill that out!!!!

Anyone else run into anyting like that!!!! I am just glad she is my friend and not a romantic love interest!!!!!

Just post that form here. This site is like 99% guys. Her dad will have LOTS of options to choose from.

Is there a line item on that form for "what oil do you use in your car?"

So I take it you don't have a daughter?

It's scary having a daughter.

I'm seriously thinking of investing in a rocking chair, chewing tobacco, and a shotgun.

For once I agree with Aldaris, overparenting causes a host of maladies. Social awkwardness in the formative years can haunt an adult througout life. The memories remain, and they cannot be changed. Yes, drowned in alcohol or other substances for a time but they always return. It is best to guide a young person. Not lead them like a senseless mule.

ha! you guys trying to prevent the inevitable.

'Underparenting' or worse yet letting Television be the source of your childs values is just as bad. At a time when many young girls are sexually active before becoming teenagers it is very important for parents to take an active role in their child's upbringing.

My wife went to dinner a couple nights ago with her friends. Her friends both have kids in middle school and high school. They tell stories of awful behavior like a sports junkie is able to rattle off football scores. The amount of drugs, sex, & out of line rebellion at the aforementioned age of 13 is simply mind numbing. Gay kids making out in the halls, drugs, etc.

I said it was best to guide a young person, I said nothing about neglect. Set good examples for children. My father and step-mother did not set good examples for me. Sure enough when the ---- hit the fan I reverted too my upbringing. I had to "re-raise" myself in my early twenties. They gave long lectures which I did not listen to. They had cruel and unusual punishments. They were overbearing. Instead they should have just tried being good people. This would have rubbed off on me. Instead I fought the oppressors and nobody won.

I think each child needs to be handled differently. I agree it is more of a guidance, but I see far greater problems from overly lenient parents than from over bearing ones.

To the OP, I definitely inform any young man who wants to date one of my daughters that he best be a good boy. I am anti-violent, but I may have threatened to demonstrate old testament punishment if my daughter was ever hurt. Boys are so much easier- less to worry about.
