Fuel shortage

In all likelihood there were no cyber criminals or hackers involved with this at all. Remember commies, terrorists, al-Qaeda? Now it’s hackers and cyber criminals. Always a group just out of reach and understanding of an average person. Works like a charm though🤫

Could always have been due to some sysadmin doing rm -rf * in the wrong directory!

Still

Should have been fixed by now! Was it done on purpose??
The pipeline was closed by Colonial, a private company, not the hackers. I’m sure the hacker’s egos got inflated. Seems like a movie with a bad plot. Colonial didn’t have to shut it down, they chose to. They need to publicly explain about these systems and what happened. There should never be any vulnerability based on “ransomware.”

i never let my cars go below 3/4 at home or 1/2 on road trip. never. why would you?
isn’t it funny how, when waiting in a gas line, nobody worries about greenhouse emissions or climate change?

We are feeling the effects here in Florida. Everyone ran out of fuel today, as I was driving around this evening I saw a tanker pull in to the Shell station we exclusively use. (Station previously out of gas). I went home for 30 minutes then drove back in the Jetta hoping to fill up. Sure enough the place was packed! I was able to fill up eventually (with 87, bummer! First time the Jetta has seen 87 octane). She will be fine I know.

So when is this supposed to end?

I believe Pensacola, Tallahassee and Jacksonville areas are hurt by the pipeline.

From Tampa to Daytona and south they get gasoline delivered by ship; Port of Tampa, Port Canaveral and Port Everglades.

Elon Musk is behind the hack and is taking payment in Doge coin.
Naw. This is the left green new deal agenda. Trying to prove their point that if we all had battery operated Cars that an oil problem would not effect us. What they do not understand is that the electric plants still run on coal and oil.

So untill we find a new energy source that we can use to power the grid or find a way to make super dooper solar panels that can power a car the green deal can't be utilized.

Hopefully Costco will come through once again. Down to 1/4 tank

Ya. The Costco near me had to re-route traffic through the parking lot and used carts as barriers to keep people from cutting in line. I was happy to see that people were filling up rather than topping off. I was under 1/4 tank myself and have some driving to do this week. Costco for the win!

So other half was down below ½ tank today and was driving by a QT and RaceTrac on way back to work from a different office - the electronic gas price displays were blank but the diesel was still lit up. Was asked by a number of folks how able to fill up - proudly proclaimed "its a diesel" - diesel was running about .20 more than usual ($2.99 vs $2.79). Apparently at the Chevron around the corner from us that has 2 - E85 nozzles had a very long line of hopefully FlexFuel capable vehicles waiting.

That doesn't make any sense. Then you essentially have 1/2 the size of the tank. I let mine go down to 2 bars or whenever the low gas light comes on. I fill up whenever it's on my way which is why it might run lower if there's no cheap gas on my route. I fill up completely anytime it goes below a 1/4 or the gas light comes on.

Fixed!
And to quote the news, "we don't have a gas shortage, we have a supply problem" (Someone tell me the difference please)

Anyway, at least we didn't have to go to the "License Number" thing. You might remember, when your license plate ended with an odd number, you could get gas on odd number days.......only.

There is plenty of gas, not a shortage, but it can’t get to the stations, a supply problem.
