Fuel Injector Cleaner - Tectron

I read a lot you here are using Tectron IIRC for fouel injector cleaner. Does it really work? or a little snake oil like so many other products seem to be? Do you use it every XX number of miles? or every oil change?

Is it better? as good? as Seafoam?

Not looking for any debate but I would like to find out more about fule injector cleaner. The 04 F150 in my sig is known for injector issues. So far mine have been a-ok but it got me thinking of this subject.

Techron is one of the best injector cleaners you can buy,I use it. I usually use a bottle before going on a long road trip.

No amount of cleaning will save an injector in your f-150, it is a mechanical failure when it happens. It will stick either open or closed. If it has the suspect injectors in it the have extended coverage to 120k miles. They are cheap and easy to replace.

I use it every few thousand miles but I have never used it to fix a problem. Just maintenance, but over the years I've never had a fuel system problem.

I have always put it in my dad's silverado (I service it for him) and at 12 years and 92,000 miles it has always run perfect.

This is a little inaccurate. It is true some particulate matter can get by the internal filter and into the pintel or disc but this can be ultrasonically cleaned and reverse flushed out.
Sticking is very common on a lot of units and true some are junk but you usually see that in the Ohms before testing.
If the Ohms are good that means there is no open or dead short in the coil and the unit is probably serviceable.

Techron is excellent as are other PEA based cleaners like Redline SI-1 and Regain. Pale oil based products like Seafoam are not as effective.
For varnish Berrymans Chemtool is a fine varnish cleaner and is very effective in carbs.

Yes, but all the injector cleaner you need is in the fuel sold in North America. If you only run non-named brand fuel and you start to feel the symptoms of a clogged injector, than maybe you need some Techron, etc. I have never read of any study that even suggests that running some Techron through the system, once in a while, keeps the injectors any cleaner than modern fuels without added Techron.

I have an 04 5.4 3V and thus far it has been excellent and posed no headaches to me. I don't have an injector issue but reading about others had me wondering about the cleaner(s).

I did open my top end up to change out VCT's and check cam phasers. All was good and very clean.

Of the stuff you can add to your tank, Tectron is one of the best. If you have a badly clogged injector it needs to be pulled and cleaned and rebuilt.

If also handles carbon deposits in the cylinders.

I cant get the techron concentrate but do have cheap redline SI-1

5CC per gallon baby~ cheap AND effective!
