FUEL ADDITIVES: MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I'm a firm believer in fuel additives regularly. I have seen vehicles in our family benefit from it. I have also successfully cleaned a partially clogged injector with consecutive treatments using a fuel additive. The injector was verified before/after.

It's cheap insurance in today's very sophisticated engines especially in areas where Smog Check is a requirement like it is here.

I've been using Chevron /w Techron once a year since my first fuel injected car (1985 Accord).
I've seen it smooth out a rough idle in just a couple miles; improve crappy running chainsaws & lawn mowers.
When I got my Toyota Matrix I tried skipping it, and after about 3 years & 15k miles the idle got a little rough.
Sure enough, a bottle in the tank smoothed it right out.

Premium gas generally doesn't have more/better additives than regular.

I have three cars and all three have responded very well to the use of Thehron. I use premium gasoline, but in each case I experienced almost dramatic improvement in performance (more responsive, more power, etc) after the use of Techron. The cars are: 2012 Infiniti G37, 2008 BMW 650i, and 1999 Lexus SC300. The BMW and Lexus, both older showed the most improvement.

One downside, gas mileage went down on on the older car, but performance improved the most.

Thoughts? Any insight would be appreciated. Any downside, other than cost (pretty cheap at Costco)?

I believe The new Techron (with plus) wording comes with performance enhancer additive, same like the Amsoil PI.
Therefore during the period of high concentrate of Techron, you will feel your car livelier, and this will be gone once you refill your tank later.

Back to whether the real improvement on fuel system, at the moment I find is depends on your engine age and the typical fuel you used. For new car, typically I would say there is no noticeable improvement, but if your car start burning oil, then the usage Techron/Redline SI-1 will give more noticeable impact from the reduced carbon/reduced compression.

Baloney
Premium has more additives and more detergency. Top-Tier leads the pack. But not all top-tier brands are the same level. Shell, Exxon-Mobil and BP lead the pack.

I believe he meant premium octane rated fuel (91 octane) and higher. [With the (R+M)/2 method)
