Free lifetime oil change. FCP Euro.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned in the thread. One thing I like about FCP Euro is that they drastically lower the barriers to using very high-end consumables. $40 for 2 liters of engine oil? $90 for a liter of brake fluid? $300 for an axle set of brake pads or a single brake rotor? Sure bites at first, but over a few changes, the cost difference between that and a lower-end option usually amortizes into insignificance. As long as you can make those first two purchases, you never have to worry about the cost/quality balance again.

As we once debated, I would be all over this if I lived on the East Coast. The shipping charges for the West Coast folks is staggering.
Do you know if they ever opened a West Coast warehouse?
Same. At least just checking regular shipping. I’d never heard of this pirate thing. I’ll look into it but honestly I’m not wild about liquid moly. I’ll have to dig into it more if there’s better shipping options.

"cheap oil change"?
mine is about $100 for BMW oil and filter
Just returned yesterday 11 lb for $13 using UPS

Don't understand people who just wanna toss it, for me it is the same hassle as driving to an auto part shop or wallmart to dispose it.
I’m using LL01 QS Euro that with filter the change in a B58 is about $45. So say it’s $100 from FCP Euro. That means I pay $100. That would take me 5 oil changes to break even at $25 shipping which I believe it’s more coming from Texas. For those 5 oil changes I get the pleasure of having to collect all the oil and the filter, package it, which means I’m probably going to end up wearing half of it. Then I have to take it and ship it. I don’t ship often but in Houston it’s a huge pain in the arse for me.

That’s all be a little generous on the pricing. Now if they had a shop in Houston I’d 100% be all over it. But running the numbers, considering I just purchased an expensive vehicle. Is it really worth the effort for me to go through all that to take a couple years to even break even? Plus I don’t really like the selection for oils. I like knowing I can pull into any Walmart and buy a quart to top off if needed.

For replacement parts I’m definitely considering it (engine air filter, cabin filter, brake pads, etc).

Neither am I.

I run their stuff in the Mazda because it's two API specs newer than what the owner's manual calls for, and it meets a bunch more specs, some of which are quite tough. Wouldn't be my first choice, but honestly it's hard to imagine anything else being better by enough to matter. That's good enough to make it a net win with lifetime replacements, IMO.

For the M3... let's just say I'm glad FCP Euro has other options.

Sit on your returnables until you accumulate enough to fill a big box, and then do one big return. If you're buying other parts from them, it'll be that much easier.

The concern about top-off makes sense. You could just buy an extra jug/bottle or two to keep on hand though, right?

as soon you spent "invested" $100 for your fist oil change, all next ones are only $25 (shipping)

FCP 5 oil changes = $200 (100 +$25 * 4)
Wally 5 oil changes = $225 ($45 * 5)

Plus I prefer BMW approval oil for the engine, LL01 is not approved oil for B58, I would not use it if I have B58

The approved oil for B58 and my B46 is LL17FE+ or LL01FE which are much more expensive than just LL01

The key is bundling. Wipers? Cabin filters? Those are annual buys so do one shipment a year back. Everyone should check what using pirateship.com would be for a small-ish box. Best is to keep the box they send you your stuff in, measure than, estimate a weight, and run the numbers. Not sure why folks have an issue with LM vs. anything you can get at Walmart, approvals are approvals...certainly at least up to snuff with QS...come on now. For top up, just buy an extra qt.

And BTW...this entire convo in the last day or so answers the question "BRO HOW DO THEY MAKE MONEY WITH THIS?". They do b/c for the most part, folks don't do it....it's a gimmick that works for some (like me!).

So you don't have this same pain in the butt recycling your used oil? I don't get how hard this is. Next change I'll make a video for my YouTube showing this complicated process hahah Take oil form my pan, pour it using a funnel int the 5L and 1L bottles, put it in a box, cram some other return crap in there, drop it at the UPS counter, profit.

I keep my Volkswagens 12 plus years, so it's a no brainer for me to buy from them.

I return everything I can including oil, filters, brakes, spark plugs etc. Just shipped back a pair of brake rotors this week. Got a $110 credit and cost me $26 to ship back.

Nice. Where r u shipping from? I've sent brakes once and it wasn't as expensive as I had thought. I actually used two separate packages.

Agree, it's probaby similiar to how you can buy $100 dollars worth of gift cards to a company for $80 dollars. A lot of people don't bother.

I am honestly on the fence between 2 oils at FCP Euro, because one comes in a large container that is easier to return. :D The "better" oil come in quart size only.

Yep, rebates are exactly the same. Sounds good but most folks don't bother and they make the process somewhat arduous for that reason. The larger containers are easier for sure but I don't see filling 1 qt bottles particularly time consuming either.

LL01 and LL04 are both approved. LL17FE+ is just some fuel efficient spec that’s more focused on fuel number then longevity. I’m not putting a 0w20 oil in my motor. I’d rather keep it a long time and keep it running well

I don’t know I’m about to look at their kits and see what they really have to offer for me. It would have to be pretty compelling to warrant years worth of waiting to break even. I’ve been told they’ve changed their TOS. What happens if the price of oil changes tomorrow?

FWIW, the kits aren’t discounted vs. buying the items separately. The only difference is the convenience of only having to add one item to your cart when you buy.

If oil prices change tomorrow… presumably that’d also apply to the oil you buy in a store, right?

But what I was reading is the credit back was at original purchase price. So they could up the price tomorrow and you wouldn’t realize that benefit but then be stuck with the new pricing kind of thing.

Michigan. Box weighed 40 lbs.

That can happen. While prices generally go up and not down, the converse is also true. If a price goes down, you get credit for the original (higher) price. I had that happen before.

I just sent back a pair of front brake rotors. Paid $56 each a few years ago and they are now $63 ea. Cost me $26 to ship back due to the weight, so I still ended up with a pair of new Zimmermann coated rotors for a grand total of $40.

A couple items I bought years ago went up so much higher, that it was cheaper to buy another brand somewhere else. However, since I usually keep cars 12 years and 200k miles, it usually works really well for me. They also sell OE parts too.
