Free lifetime oil change. FCP Euro.

Latest return. $185 worth of stuff. Atlas oil change kit. Brake rotor set screws. Bevel box/r. diff fluids. Haldex fluid. Sportwagen oil filter. Note this isn't packed up fully yet...will all be in plastic bags ziptied closed. Once credit hits I'll place my next order for consumables.

Here's my tally to-date. The intial costs/cost per return aren't accurate b/c they fluctuate but whatever...close enough. I also just added my son's '98 GTI to the mix with a LM Molygen oil change kit so those will now go LRG for him.

Ok, ~$17 to ship using UPS (via pirateship.com) ~20 pounds of $185 worth of FCP supplies. It's very cheap but I'm in VA.

About to do a DSG service on the GLI and get replacement kit for the Dadwagon with the credit. Some other bits going back too. Have to wait a bit for my LRG with ECS Tuning parts to go back before I can make comparisons with FCP.

I forget about ECS but isn't that more limited than FCP? As in not including wear parts etc.?

I'm assuming the DSG fluid swap is pretty straight forward? I have the manual tranny with no fill hole so I'll tackle that at some point. I hate doing the VAQ fluid on these things...tight quarters and jacking up all 4 corners to ensure it's level is a pain!

DSG fluid swap is easy (to me). The worst part of all of it is getting the car up and level in your garage. I use ramps in front and some wood blocks I made out back. It's drain/fill from the drain port but not a hard task with a filler tool. Some do it from the top into the filter port but you are estimating the fill volume vs. the factory method of overfill/drain to correct level which I prefer.

I fill from the top, into the filter housing, usually with 5 qts. for my DQ250s, which is slight overfill. Then bring to proper temp and drain excess. Quick Jack gets all 4 corners level, but used ramps and 2 floor jacks before and was still easy.

And purchased a couple wiper blades and brake pads from ECS that FCP didn't have, and all are LRG. So I assume they do wear parts.

I'm not sure they do oil maybe that's what I read, not sure. I've done the same...FCP doesn't ever have the rear wiper for my Atlas for whatever reason so ECS if I'm online anyway ordering.

$160 worth of stuff returned for $7.65 using pirateship. 3x sets of wipers, 2 cabin filters, brake fluid. Will cover most of my next service on the Atlas.

still puzzles me, how they can financially survive it? Can not understand it from business perspective. I think they might start downplay it, the first sign is they only doing store credit now. I can predict this might end soon

A few other other popular Euro online sellers have added a version of it so clearly this is a money maker. It's simple really...sounds like a great idea but v. few will actually do it. Case in point...I have a buddy who piled up a ton of parts to send back and finally said screw it and tossed em' because he didn't want to deal with it. That's most folks. V. few like me that actually take the time to return things. They did as you say change it from cash back to store credit, smart, I get it and works for me just fine. The magic is that it gets you excited and you likely spend more money based on it...just like a credit card.

I've done a couple small warranty returns to FCP, but doing my first larger one for about $300 worth of stuff. Had my transmission serviced again, so returning all the trans and diff synthetic fluids (all are $22 to $23 per liter), plus filters, drain and fill plugs, gaskets and I also had a recent engine air filter and cabin filter change. Just need to locate a larger box than what I have presently and will get my paperwork in order and ship it this week.

I am about to join the team with Driven Di40 oil and filters. I will be returning the oil, any recomendations on getting the oil back into small bottles neatly? :)

I just use a funnel and am careful/try not to make a mess!

I can’t really see how it’s worth it. Sure some of you are paying $17 but what a pain to package it all up and send it to save about $30 a year. I like Quaker State Euro at $22/jug way more than liquid moly.

I buy from FCP parts. Some fluids maybe (brake fluid). But I don’t bother with returning.
As for wipers, I buy on Rock Auto. $5-7 for Hella beam style :)

I agree it doesn't make much sense for a cheap oil change. But for larger items, like my transmission service with $23 per liter fluid, plus filter, gaskets and drain/fill plugs, I will get over $260 back. I am also returning my engine air filter and cabin filters. All told, about $300.

I have yet to do it, but on my next suspension overhaul, I may return all the control arms, end links and steering center link. I've gone through that twice so far and never returned them...but heck, that would be like over $1000.
