Getting ready to do my second oil change on my '06 4Runner 4.7 V8. The truck now has 240k, and has used Valvoline Maxlife High Mileage since about 70k. Uses about a half a quart per 5k, not a single leak. My question is...do you guys trust the Fram Ultra to the advertised 20k? This oil and filter has 5k on it, I bought another Fram Ultra to change it but now I am having second thoughts. Am I wasting money by changing it with only 5k? I know I will never be able to go the 20k miles advertised life, but I can probably stomach using the filter for 10k. Old habits die hard. Just doesn't seem right to change oil without changing the filter.
Gonna send the used oil in for analysis to Blackstone. Ought to be interesting to see what they recommend on oil change intervals.
