Have not yet been able to force myself to virgin autopsy these, but here are some basic visuals of the two Honda application filters.
The XG3593A is the application for many Hondas, including my '00 Accord V6.
The XG8317 fits some new Hondas and Acuras as well a a plethora of other cars.
In the Purolater P1 brand, the two crossover numbers to these, the 7317 equivalent has significantly more media. Don't think that holds true here.
My conclusion, at least until I've actually measured the amount of media in these two Frams, is that the extra media in the Puro brand may be worth the risk of straying outside the recommendation, it isn't with the Fram. This is a "do what I say, not what I do" moment because I fully intend to use the XG7317 I got on a smokin' deal. The risk comes if you were to have a filter faiure that cost you an engine. If you were using the recommended number, your odds of being able to make a claim are very good. if you had the wrong part number on the engine, could you even make it to first base? I think that would hold true with any company, Puro, Ram... whoever. brand
Both XG Ultras have the same media- rated @ 99+% @ 20um with synthetic media and are rated for 15K miles by Fram
No capacity info, but was told there is only one more gram of capacity difference between them.
And sorry about the specs. I formatted the info on a word doc and pasted it into a code box. Formatting won't hold. Tried a couple of different formats, including RTF... no go. Advice welcome.

Note 1- The XG3506 has the same media and is almost exactly the size as the XG3593A and I have determined it’s capacity is 18 grams from a spec given by motorking. I think we may safely assume both XGs are in the same range… 18-20 grams.
