Fram Ultra fits, but Fram Endurance doesn't?

Hi all.
2009 Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix) 2.4L
I noticed something perplexing. Per the Fram and Walmart websites, every Fram oil filter with model numbers ending in 4967 are slated to fit my engine, except for the Fram Endurance (FE4967). Oddly, the FE4967 is recommended for the Scion TC '06-'08 with the same engine. The only thing that gives me pause is that the Fram Ultra bypass rating is 12 psi and the Endurance is 9-15psi, although that probably pertains to the filter itself more than the engine.
Has anyone used the Fram Endurance on a Toyota 2.4l 2AZ FE engine?
Everything points to it being compatible (dimensions, thread, model number, etc.) except that it's not recommended by Fram.
I'm more curious than anything, but I would like to try a Fram Endurance filter for the novelty, if nothing else.
Any thoughts?
Jonas

Use the FE4967 :D

There is nothing wrong with using the Endurance in your Vibe, but I'm still pissed that Fram stopped making 4386 size filters :sneaky:

You might even be able to fit a 3614 or 3600 depending on how much room you have

I emailed them, and they said none of the Endurance filters fit my application, but I'd bet they just reiterated the info on the website.
Typical response...
So the website says it fits your model for the PH, TG, & Ultra lines but not the FE & they tell you none of them will work? There's some moves the FE is being discontinued anyways so perhaps find another filter that shows it fits?

They said only the FE wouldn't fit. Every other model ending in 4967 fits. The slightly longer 4386 size fits too, but it's only available as EG and TG now. I just want a 99% 20 micron filter I can use for 2 oil changes 😭

That model number is one of my favorite Frams (4967). I understand your frustration but I'd just use the Ultra in it's place.

If you’re looking at the charts, they will not recommend an oversized filter for your car if it didn’t come with one. Case in point, 2008-2010 Buick Enclave with 3.6 V6 came with the shorter filter, the 2011 & later came with the longer one (Fram 10575). I use the longer in my 2008. My 2020 6.0 Chev specs the shorter filter but I still use the 10575. Just look at the base size & thread. My 91 Camaro with 3.1V6 specs a longer filter but it’s the same base as the shorter filter on my 2000 3.4V6, so I use the longer (Fram 3980) one.

If all the specs match, threads, bypass settings and all and it fits it will work fine
