Ford cuts prices of F-150 Lightening by 7-16%.

My doctor unloaded his, to sum it up, he tried it and didn't like it. Fit and finish left a lot to the imagination and he found traveling to his condo in South Florida was more of a hassle than it was worth for him. He said when it came time for tires, which BTW didn't last nearly as long as he was used to, he was a bit shocked at the cost. I guess he didn't do his homework before buying. He took his loss and moved on. As stated a number of times here, they're clearly not for everyone.
do they have some special tires?

I don't own one, he said they didn't last nearly as long as tires did on other cars he owned, and they weren't cheap. I did a search and found what he said was accurate. Tires for them aren't cheap and they don't last as long due to the weight of the vehicle.
I picked up a screw in one of the Model 3 Conti tires. Pulled the wheel and took it to my local Wheel Works (Firestone).
Continental ProContact RX 235/40/R19... List $364; they gave me a little over 10% off. $370 out the door, including the governor's tax.
Ouch! That almost more than the Michelin Sports on my GS! Tire had 10K on it...
I can tell you these tires will not go back on when they are done.

Did they say why?

She didn't give me a reason.

I asked to make an appointment for Thursday morning to test drive one, as I will be in the city.
She just said no, but an explanation was not given.
The ford dealer in PG is terrible at the best of times though.
I know a lot of people who drive fords, they go out of town to buy in another place.

If it were a Tesla, that's likely to be true. But Ford uses pouch cells, and they've already had problems.
Who knows. Wonder what the warranty and requirements for the warranty is.

Here is the issue that I take with the EV thing:

It has been touted to the ignorant masses as a "zero emissions" thing. "Save the planet" "Super efficient" and so on. And while some of the claims are true, most are skewed from the truth, which makes it a lie. That is why on many advertisements now, in the fine print, they state "zero emissions....... AT THE TAILPIPE"

To move an object of a certain weight, at a certain speed, in a certain time, no matter how you slice it, the power consumption is always the same. Where it comes from is the difference.

Most of this is aimed at those who think earth is flat and perpetual motion is possible. If there was a little more truth behind it I would be all for it. Just tired of all the lies.

Does any one know how much it costs at a charging station of fully charge a Tesla?

Then why did you call them?
Any chance a savvy dealership (honest/preferable or not) employee picked up on the hollowness of your request?

I think we all know that goods rushed to market commonly lack adequate development.
Look how Toyota progressed through vehicle sizes and capacities. Keep in mind the "feedback flow" they enjoyed; it was paced.

American car companies cobbled together a few hybrids.

But Ford just had to go all-in with a heavy as heck, all electric wonder truck. It's a clown act right out of the box.
Who could feel differently?

MY TWO CENTS:
Since 98% of our trips are shorties, electric vehicles can work easily.

Electric milk wagons in the UK...the battery powered Macy's trucks my dad grew up with...the electric cars made here in the '20's......Did anyone plot usefulness data? Why the moronic rejection trip expressed in near-panic terms?

Paying attention to battery level and recharger locations will take some effort. It'll vary person to person.

They have news reports featuring charging station bottlenecks and air travel headaches. See where the involved technologies work and copy that.
I won't go near an airport unless I absolutely have to....same for 'the latest and greatest' vehicle of any type.

I wish the industry would turn some of that extremely wasteful acceleration into range.

They can also downsize those senseless wide tires.

This why people get irritated with comments like this. You have to assume everyone is stupid and that you know it all. Real answer is you don't like it and you've decided you're the defacto expert. It is more efficient and does consume less. Maybe mind your own business instead of feeling the need to be condescending about what someone else drives. You could also fill us in on what you drive so we can return the favor.

Yes, they did chose their words carefully. I learned a long time ago not to believe everything I read or hear, and if the topic interests me to do my own research and draw my own conclusions. Based on that an EV is not for me. Add to it that it has become obvious the Gov't seems to be pushing it hard makes me want it even less.

I was sincere.........

I'm not some super ev fan boy, that said I like to learn about them, and can see some good points to owning them.
A few electric pickups in the business fleet might be great to have as well for employees.
And as stated several times by me, I can picture a future where an ev car sits in my garage.
There are merits for both ice and ev vehicles.
I personally would buy a hybrid car tomorrow if I was going to replace my accord run around car. Drive it on gas to town, drive around town electric only, then start my journey home on electric until it felt a need to start up the gas engine again, that would be great imo.
And i could still road trip it easily.
I've never driven a prius in my life, but a plug in version of a prius would be good for about 70% of my driving needs, and shutting down the ice engine around town suits me just fine.

You simply take everything that is said negatively about EV's, as a personal attack on your choice..... It's not. Your whole "return the favor" comment proves this. He's not attacking YOU. Nor is he being, "condescending". That is just how you interpret it. You're the one who needs to grow up.... Or grow thicker skin.
