Mine was a 1974 Olds Cutlass Supreme. Blue w/white landau top,white vinyl interior,matching blue Cutlass wheels,bucket seats,chrome shifter,and the Rocket 350 engine.

1973 New yorker metallic green 440 4bbl. It would barely burn rubber on asphalt but once moving she roll all day at 90 . And it she had an awful addiction to gasoline. Sure wish I had a picture to post.

1970 Mustang Grande 351 2V:

The first car I actually paid for myself was a Datsun SPL-311:

IIRC my first was an '86 Isuzu Pup. Bought in '92 I think, sophmore in high school, for $200, as it wouldn't move. Actually, I worked for the guy who owned it for the summer, so it was like two weeks of working, then it was mine, and the other weeks paid for repairs and gas.

I hooked up the vacuum lines that fell off and drove it home. Never asked what he thought about that... It drove home fine, but I quickly found a leaky rear main seal; and after putting the engine back in spent the next year wondering why it ran poorly. Yup--hooked some vacuum lines up wrong. Some mechanic I am! That 2.3L I4 ran like a champ after that, and it had the optional 5spd manual too. 27mpg IIRC.

Put about 10kmiles onto that, then moved onto an '86 Subaru GL which I put 20k onto. Then off to college and sporadic driving (usually not); eventually the GL went away, and I had an '82 S10 (~6kmiles) for one summer. After college I bought an '00 Saturn SL (new, 116kmiles), and then my '04 VW (new, now 265kmiles).

1974. Oil embargo. Just out of high school.

Being a progressive thinker, I bought a 1970 white Opel Kadett with red interior that got an astounding 20 mpg.

Learned to drive stick shift, do tune ups, change oil, body work (rust repair), and twice monthly (no lie) waxing.

My wife (then girl friend)and I didn't need cell phones to distract our attention away from driving back then. I liked to think I was driving a mini Nova!

1993 Toyota Camry, decent car but so freaken dull. It motivated me to work harder and buy my first Mercedes.

1997 Nissan Maxima

With over 140,000 miles already onit, I learned how to drive a stick on it, beat the heck out of it, and never really took care of it.

I had from 16-18. At 18, I bought the M3 and I let the Nissan go on Craigslist fairly cheap.

The best of what?

The best of all the other oils I tried. Car ran very hot (normal) especially in the Summer

I still have my first car....

1981 Buick Regal Sport Coupe. Inside are maroon bucket seats, a full length console, and a sport steering wheel.

Later, I retired the wire wheels and white walls...and put on a set of Buick 5 spoke chrome rims.

Mine was a 1988 Toyota Tercel hatchback with a 4 speed manual trans, and no radio. Only had it for a few years and while it never gave me much trouble I was pretty paranoid about it. Eventually donated it to the Good Will and saw it around town a few times afterward.

Depends on how you look at it, but when I turned 15 my dad got me a 95 Chevy Corsica 4 cylinder, automatic to learn to drive on. Then, a couple months before I turned 16 I got the 66 Mustang in my signature that has a 200 straight six with the "Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic" C4 transmission. Both of these cars had/have only Pennzoil conventional first from Midas, and then by me once I started changing my own oil.

My first truck is the 04 F-150 in my signature, that is my daily driver. It's a supercab with 6.5' bed, with a 5.4L 3V V8 and 4 speed 4R75W transmission. It has had several different oils including Amsoil, Mobil 1, Castrol, and Pennzoil. I've mostly used Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra in it, and will probably stick with P.P. in it. It has been a great/reliable vehicle for the 4 years and 70,000 miles that I've had it and I'll probably keep it for several more years.

My first new car was the 318ti Club Sport in my signature. I ordered it in August of 1995 and picked it up 17 years ago this weekend. It's one of @300 Club Sports built through BMW Individual- and only one of five built without a sunroof. It still makes it to the track for one or two HPDEs every year.

First car was a handed-down 1975 Chevy Impala. 350 V-8 (which was the smaller engine at the time), power brakes and steering but no A/C. It was stolen and stripped for parts a month after it officially became mine. Replaced that with a 1979 Chevy Impala.

Don't remember specific oil brands, but I do remember the oil still coming in the fiber cans. And I believe both vehicles took Delco's PF-25 filter.

1971 Chevy Nova SS 350/ 4 speed car. Lots of fun with that car and I sold it after having it 20 years to a good friend of mine so I still see it from time to time.

I think I was using Catrol GTX and AC filters if I remember right.

Mine was a 1954 Morris Minor 1000. It was behind the Texaco station where I "worked" as a kid. The boss, Lou, said if I could get it running it was mine.....man, I worked on that thing for what seemed forever. I think Lou must have helped out a bit because one day it DID start.

A MM has both an electric starter (mine was bad) and a crank/lug wrench combo so all of my start attempts were via crank!

Shortly after I got the MM running (or Lou did....whatever!)we moved to Kansas and my dad and I drove it the entire way with zero issues. The nicest part of the trip though was the very beginning....Lou had the MM in his shop when I got there and on the floor in front of the car was a new starter. What sweet noise it made when it cranked!

The second best part of this story is Kansas allows a restricted drivers license at age 14.
