Has anybody saprayed the bulk cosmoline RP342? What did you use? How did it go?

I'm been using FF on my "old" truck for many years with great results but using RP342 on the "new" truck since its a bit less messy with the dry wax. Its working pretty well, I do it about every 3rd year on all the ferrous components but the spray cans are a PITA and the rp342 tends to clog up the nozzle frequently. Wondering if the bulk stuff would work well out of the same spray gun I use for FF or what I would need?

Quite interesting!
My only experience with Cosmoline is cleaning it off of crate guns after purchase, and cursing while I'm doing it.... I'm sure the title will peak the interest of those who know what I mean.

For fun I just barrel and action cleaned a Romanian offering one time (on an example that is similar to my user name), lesson learned, but fun! It was a smoke show that could compete with a Sea-Foam YT video!!!

Sorry, I will stop hijacking the thread now. Also being a JEEP guy in Central PA, I am interested in learning about this application.

The RP342 is pretty well established around here. Some love it some hate it, I'm in between. Its nice that you dont end up with the greasy gritty mess of wet fluid film but I feel like its a little less effective than annual FF spray downs too.

Cosmoline is great for durability and in my opinion looks much better. One thing i would note is i would not use it in rocker panels or enclosed cavities. You run the risk of it curing before it flows into all the cracks and crevice's. In my opinion these areas are better off with a lanoline product.

You will have to thin it out, cosmoline is molasses thick otherwise.

At work we generally just put some naptha from the solvent tank into a spray bottle, fill with cosmoline to whatever consistency we want, and go to town spraying. Bigger stuff we’d just brush/roll on.

Ah interesting. Wasnt sure if it was thick like that in bulk form or thinner like Boeshield is. Guess they dont put a lot of solvent in which is good!
