I'm thinking either FRAM ultra or Kia/Hyundai OEM filter. If OEM filter I'll go 5-6k and if ULTRA I'll go 2 5-6k oci's. What say the BITOG faithful and its girlfriends car so maybe 8k miles per year as she carpools often.

I switched to the Ultras for both my Hyundais and plan on a two oil change, 5k miles each, cycle with them.

OEM. Use them on my Sonata. Well built. Also, if under warranty change the filter with the oil.
Why risk a potential warranty issue.

Yeah, I grabbed 1 a bit ago at Wal Mart. I'll go 2 5~oci's and cut open and see how it looks then probably go 3 5k oci's. Thanks folks

10 000 mile OCI with a Fram Ultra works good too.
Just use a full synthetic oil...PP , Castrol gold bottle or my favorite Amsoil Sig 5W20.

Going to use Synpower first, then probably Mobil 1 5w30 the girlfriend for and did 2 rebates for

The Mobil 1 5w30 looks real good. Might have to use that next oci. I'm going to start using full syns that way I can go up to 10k miles per oci if I want to and not have to worry about it.

DO NOT use an oil filter for multiple OCI's, especially while still under warranty!

Fram Ultra is a good filter, and so is Wix/Napa Gold. But even the cheap Napa Silver/Proselect/Microgard/Supertech will do 5-6k with no problems.

The OE Hyundai/Kia filters are Korean Mann filters. Nothing wrong with them at all. Mann W811/80

OEM Filter and whatever oil doing a 5k OCI when under warranty (remember, 10 yr/100,000 mile if original owner, 6yr/60,000 mile if second owner).

Ultra and a good syn once a year if out of warranty.

First, good to have you back 51.

Imo, either plan will work. The Ultra will be more efficient and will work fine for the two ocis you note, same as it did for me for 14k miles and 32 months on my Tacoma.

OEM not noted for their efficiency according to the Hyundai you tube info, but a well made filter and well thought of here.

With no warranty to consider, your call. Just depends on whether you want to change the filter each time or run the FU twice. Don't think you can go wrong with either.

Thanks for the welcome back Sayjac

I'm going to use the ULTRA for 2ocis then cut it open and if looks good, I will use it 3 times.

First off... train her how to cut open used filters properly. Second get her to know what pictures are important to take. That way she is trained and ready just in case you can't do that for awhile for whatever reason

I agree with the others on here about going with the Ultra for your two 5-6k change interval.
