Looks like the price for Everstart Value has increased by $10 to $79. Would you guys still roll the dice on the Value vs paying up for the Maxx? (I don't generally like the idea of the Plus because I am convinced it is exactly the same battery as the Value but with one extra year of warranty, for $110....a lot of money for a 2nd year of warranty on a battery that will probably make it about 3yrs before failure)

This vehicle is a college kid's car, so would be a daily driver over winter break and summer, but no, it is not a primary car where I would lose my job if I can't start it, and I have a lithium jump starter.
Always trying to decide if having the extra buffer from the one extra lead plate (so ~750CCA vs probably ~650 max on the Value) is really worth 2X the price or not. Or I guess now, slightly less than 2X the price.
I have a 5 year old group 65 Value in one if my rigs. Still starts.
I don't think there the same. Or there the same but the label the "seconds" as the value one. I have owned all of them and the value one tested the worst from day one. Still worth it for the price in general, but the one for 2X the price has 3X the warranty in the end.
Either way Walmart is the only place to get a battery for $79, so at least the option exists.

I've always bought Costco batteries so I don't know the "Value" line or how much worse it is, which is why I was inquiring. I've read a number of people saying that they will still last 3+ years, and so at half the price, you would still come out ahead since it's unlikely the Maxx actually lasts 6+ years. What I am weighing is that "extra margin" on the Maxx, so if we get one of those minus 15 days in Chicago, will the Value just konk out while the Maxx would still work. Obviously if that happens, I would be cursing my savings of $60 or whatever
Also what is the consensus on AGMs? My sense is that it is NOT better to put an AGM into an older Honda because its charger is outputting 14.3-ish volts, not the higher voltage needed to properly charge an AGM, and so the AGM actually won't last longer, and thus the extra cost isn't worth it in the end.

I've always put AGMs in older cars that came with flooded batteries. It has never been an issue...I enjoy the (typically) longer life, not having to check or add water, and with the Walmart AGM battery, a longer, four year warranty, "just in case".
Interesting, thanks. I've gotten mixed reports (and Co-Pilot AI tells me they won't last any longer, and maybe less, due to the charging issue). Glad to hear your experience is better.
Anyone know if the Weize (and related brands) are equally good AGMs vs the Walmart or Costco? Seems they can be had for the same price as an Everstart Maxx if purchased from the Walmart or Amazon websites.
One word: Tariffs.

The warranty issue would concern me. Amazon is only covering for 30 days, then it is up to the manufacturer to warranty. There are a lot of threads online about issues with battery manufacturers not supporting warranty with online purchases.
I would ask Weize directly how they will handle it and what is required.
Mailing batteries for exchange is not going to be expedient or inexpensive. That is why I use WalMart.
