The problem with certificates is that with ever more e-mobility other's will have less and less need to pay for Tesla's profits because of less and less need for compensation (shifting their own fleets), just an aspect of the transition.
Problem with capital now is that it won't remain interested for many diverse reasons; most fleeting capital won't even be interested in ever watching Tesla starting to make money from selling cars. Timid capital ain't in to somehow ever find it's way from there into the new "ecosystems" that Tesla would have to become a part of instead of shooting vehicles to the moon, polluting space and atmosphere and reason.

All that for just the US market, not China, not India (where fresh chinese start ups are beginning to expand) or rests of world in which TSLA won't easily remain 10 years, months or whatever ahead for another 10 weeks or days. Tesla may be known all over the world by now, but four letters with a market capitalization hardly stop others from doing business. Often business that Tesla only yesterday mentioned to have a handful of Germans design a "next level" car for it, eventually. Or let Chinese dependance figure out how to retrofit mature instrumentation for.
Germany of course can be expected to pay for building up capacities, more crisis-money and unelections will support stock market rallyes etc. pp., that's always and everywhere part of the bets. No crystal balls needed. Regarding "TSLA" as a Q-esque venture capital movement on the other hand – well, really wannabee TSLAnons?

From the enlightening Bolshevik and his sheepishly investigative Google now the addition: TSLAnons appear to be in the files for much longer than ten years ;-(,

1982! – so far ahead they are. (I know it isn't true. You will know it isn't true. But TSLAnons could love themselves for preferring to choose to believe it. Alles für den Dackel, wie der Deutsche sagt.)

Jeff,

How many shares of Tesla do you own ?

Just wondering....

.
Not very many... I was gonna buy a bunch when they went public, because they are located right up the road from me.
But I chickened out... I am extremely conservative financially. A cheapskate to the max.
They rehired a bunch of laid off NUMMI workers (saved a lotta homes) and restored the tax base in Fremont.
And I met with the CIO to discuss rewriting their MRP software. And to design and code an MRP II app.

I would tell you, but I don't feel it is appropriate to discuss personal wealth on forums.
But of course TSLA has been very profitable in a very short time.

My point is, this is no small achievement. Thinking otherwise is not thinking from a business standpoint.
Don't take it from me; take it from Barrons, MarketWatch, etc.

Your comments echo the short sellers who have made Tesla (and Apple) the most shorted stocks.
Tesla shorts are considered one of the worst bets in stock history.
What will the future hold? I don't have a crystal ball; I can only comment on what has happened so far.

All good.

Junk bonds....

No denying Elon is super innovative and very smart.

I did buy some Tesla stock earlier this year.

He is innovative and smart, but overrated and often spouts kooky nonsense that makes one wonder. He's a terrible day-to-day manager and tends to shoot his toes off when taking one-step backwards after the two-steps forward. That's why SpaceX runs so well, he's out of it and should be out of day-to-day management of Tesla as well. IMHO

Right... And yet he is the 2nd richest man in the world and his company, not yet 20 years old, is the 6th most valuable company in America.
And this is the 2nd time he has built an empire company.

Rich in liquid assets? Can he go down to the bank and withdraw it?

Sixth most valuable company? Could be Enron...

The main thing people miss is that Tesla is way more than a car manufacturer. There's a reason why Tesla has $522B market cap, more than 2x of Toyota
Many investment specialists call TSLA a pyramid scheme. Billionaire investors getting richer by getting more and more common people to invest in the stock. That is what makes the stock go up. More people buy the stock it goes up, people sell the stock it goes down. Simple as that for all stocks. Tesla has always built cars from available off the shelf parts, to whatever price point the bean counters tell them. No real design or engineering departments, except to make stylish bodywork. Where are the electric big rig tractors they said they were gonna build? They started out inflating battery mileage dramatically. Promises, promises. When Ford comes out with the ground up designed all electric (2021) Mustang, and the completely re-designed all electric F150 and Transit line options in 2022 TSLA days are numbered. I guess they could still stay in business if they get their act together and start making something halfway decent.

Exactly! As stated earlier I WANT Tesla to succeed and would actually like to buy one. But stop with how the market reflects any actual long term success or viability. And Elon might be a genius, but he is also a weirdo on the autism spectrum.....

Man, gonna grab some Ford stock … with GM and Tesla both gone … it’s gonna rock !
You do whatever you want with you paper route money. If you want to look up some facts, I bought in April at $4.36 because I read the writing on the wall. Now F is at $9. I am up a little over 100%. During Covid! Ford is unstoppable because they took a huge gamble on all electrics, and they developed (by all early reports) a vastly superior product.

If you want to start posting income - you picked the wrong guy.

F is a lousy stock based on the numbers. Emotional stock buying always ends badly.
