Does Castrol need better products or marketing?

No shortage of Castrol products at Canadian Tire. Multiply by 0.7 for USD.

Castrol THF is over priced at Canadian Tired. I bought a pail at Princess Auto on sale for $30 cheaper and I had a $25 store coupon to use up. I don’t care about brand or base oil composition as long as it meets the licensing and manufactures approval I’m looking for. In this case, J20C.
Instead of ATF, I use THF in power steering pumps and transfer cases in addition to the lawn tractors.

Have been a Castrol GTX customer since 1991 and my Plymouth Laser

I have tried a few others but my first choice is Castrol or Mystik and these are based on nostalgic and sentimental reasons
Nothing wrong with that. The first oil I ever purchased with my own money was Castrol GTX.
It was API SG back then, and it's API SP now, so I still buy it on occasion.

In the grand scheme of things is the extra $5 to $10 twice a year really going to be a tough financial hit?
Not for me. I like cheap oil but stash with clearance / rebate / pricing mistake oils. I have spent my life in manufacturing and economy of scale wins. So there is no way someone like Warren Distribution can compete with Exxon, Shell, BP, etc who refine their own oil and in some cases make there own add pack. So there either using cheaper ingredients or living on lower margins, neither being great.

Now does that mean that Supertech or Costco oils are not good enough - absolutely not, there fine. If they put them on clearance I would buy! :ROFLMAO:

Don't know if anyone here mentioned it, but I was always a fan of the Castrol Celica rally cars.

And the RFK Castrol paint schemes are some of the best looking Nascars currently on the track IMO...

I saw Castrol updated their bottles.

It days 32,000 km protection for Edge and 40,000 km protection for EP.

M1 only claims 16,000 km and 25,000 km for EP.

When people go to the store so they just look at this number and buy what is higher?

Well several months after this thread started. We are still waiting for Castrol Edge Extended performance Gold bottles to return to Walmart shelves. I don’t even think the ones sold occasionally online at Walmart or Amazon are the new current refreshed formulas even though that’s what the item picture shows. ☹️

It’s pretty easy to find in Canada. Walmart and Canadian Tire both carry it. In fact it’s on sale at CT right now (but it’s priced higher than any of their other oils)

They still haven't put out a new PDS for their new EDGE EP oils. If you look at the claims made for the new EDGE EP, it looks to be a really top-notch oil.

Edge EP is on my short list of oils that I might run in the Civic after I have done four intervals with VRP. I’m also considering M1 EP HM and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. I’m sure I would be perfectly fine with any of them for the 9-10k intervals that I typically do in the Honda.

Back in the day .... I ran castrol syntec and syntec blend with great results in a 95 ford ranger over 365,000 miles ... maybe a few runs of gtx high mileage but always ran castrol......... recently valvoline extended protection high mileage....love it in my hemi and wifes frontier

$49.95 for a 5-L jug of Gold?....... no wonder it's nowhere to be found here.
It should be 'around' the same price as Valvoline EP, Mobil-1 EP or Wally's Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
