Anyone doing a 'frankenbatch' of oil?

Before I sold it last year my 2012 Ford transit Connect got many a change of what was left over from my Audi/VW changes. 0w-30 and 40 and that little van never blinked. Had over 220k miles on it when it was sold and never used oil at all.
It hauled full loads most of its life doing 300 to 400 miles a day most highway miles and some very rough WV back country roads. I remember going up a steep rutted driveway to the top of a mountain to see two jacked up dodge power wagons parked in front of the house and the guy came out and said how in the world did you make it up here. Lol

hey all, i noticed some people on here really like several oils or some are stuck to a certain one in particular

i have read about some people mixing but i assumed on a forum full of enthusiasts, more people would be mixing and making a frankenbatch

i don't necessarily see a harm in this but wondering what yall think about it and what brews you all are running? maybe we can make some recipes for ultra cleaning, ultra long OCI, ultra stabile

in the future when i get the time, i'm thinking of running 1/2 PUP + 1/2 Castrol Edge EP for fun

or maybe even mixing VRP with some other high detergency oil

**truth be told, i know we can't formulate a better product, this is just for fun / being an enthusiast**

Everyone thinks that they are a tribologist!

I’m up to two quarts of brew from my leftover dripping bottles into one after new oil changes. Little 20, majority 30 and a bit of 40 weight leftovers. All synthetic, probably reserved for the push mowers annual change.

I have around 4 qts of all kinds of oil in a jug. Probably throw it in one of the squarebodys. They don’t care what I feed them.

Over the years I've committed every BITOG infraction you can think of . Mixed brands , weights of oil . Synthetic and conventional , etc. Even did my first OC on a new vehicle at 5k .. I've slept good and my vehicles have never had an oil related issue .
And here's the big one .. I've never even held an Amsoil product of any kind in my hand . Yeah , I'm living on the edge .
Prefer to be castigated as a heretic for those infractions. And be required to do 20 bows to your oil drain pan for not using any Amsoil products. IJS........

Not really for fun, but i will be using up the oldest oils in the shed. I have some of my dad’s stash to use up, and some of his stash was my grandpa’s stash. My ‘63 Caddy is going to get some SG and SL oil, in addition to some newer stuff. Any of the oils I’ll be using are better than the oils of 1963. I’d consider doing the same with my 70’s vehicles as well.

It’s the oil filters I’m more concerned about. I have three orange Frams my grandpa bought in 1992, for his ‘79 Bronco.

People unintentionally mix oil all the time, when going from one oil change to another and the shop switch oil, or when they change API spec and there is one quart of old oil on the shelf that people just buy and dump into the sump together with N-1 bottles. Oil companies know this and they are expected as long as it is not a completely different chemical.

It is not like mixing Ketchup and Syrup on a pancake, it is more like adding different liquid hand soap to the same bottle. Will it wash your hand cleaner? Probably not, but it won't cause you skin problems.

I only mix with a single manufacturer product. After nine oil changes using 4.4 quarts at a time swapping between 0w-20 and 5w-30, I’ll have enough Castrol Edge EP left over to have a half-half mixture for a oil change. Or sometimes I don’t have enough jugs of a particular weight for a full oil change but it is still the same manufacturer - some mixture of Castrol 5w-30 Euro and 0w-40 Euro.

So you think using a heavier grade of oil than recommended will cause issues in an engine? What information shared by oil manufacturers led you to believe this?
