2022+ Subaru WRX FA24F Oil Strategy

To be honest, I’m surprised how many people seem to have more faith than I do, that their dealer/service center won’t try to find any reason to not pay for a potential very expensive claim.
Well that's the value of coming to a forum like this where you can draw on the experience of a large group who have never seen an issue with oil viscosity (higher obviously, not lower).

The reality is that if you had some engine problem, they'd look at the oil, look at the engine, and if you're running Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 and changing it regularly, it's going to be pristine, and there won't even be a question of whether you're changing the oil. There would only be an issue if they were to pull the valve cover and see it caked in sludge.

There was even a thread here recently from a Hyundai tech who had a warranty claim where the customer clearly had never changed the oil. Tons of sludge. Looked horrible. They still warrantied the engine.

This is 100% the reality. If the engine and oil looks like it has been changed regularly it is highly unlikely that they will even ask wkat kind of oil is in there.
LSPI tends to be a problem with some SMALL boosted DI engines. AMG engines don't fall into that category partly because they aren't "small".
That is true for most of them. I was thinking of engines like the M133 that were right on the line at 2.0L and run 27-28psi of boost from the factory. MB229.5 was the spec for that engine.

Exactly. If you run the Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 from day 1, your engine will be so clean they might ask you what oil you are using... so they can run it themselves.

Part of my reasoning is that Subaru doesn't really have a spec for engine oil. Just API/ILSAC with a viscosity suggestion, as is common with the japanese manufacturers. The dealer doesn't want to weasel out of work, they just want to make sure SOA is going to pay for it if it's under warranty.
