Another Valvoline Restore and Protect result - 2015 Subaru

for sure.. 5W30 and just run that.. the rest is CRAP.. RnP has SHOWN to do the job..
I ran one RnP oil fill on a 188K hyundai that as using like 1/2 qt n 4K miles and it drop to almost zero..

You real just should try moving it to a 30 grade Valvoline Restore and Protect and drop using all the additional additives

No, but it is an engine we see come up with a reoccurring theme - perhaps disproportionately to the numbers on the road …
In which case I am just going to say that the OCI is way too optimistic so change at 50-60% of it and work your way on from that. Or "a few hundred miles before your engine starts losing oil".

I'm just wrapping up my fourth oci on my wife's 2015 Subaru Forester with and Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w-20, I would also hit it with Rislone engine treatment, for a more traditional cleaning action along side. Run for the manufacturer Recommended 5k oil change interval.

It's a manual (They consume less than a CVT) but my consumption went from just over 1qt per 1600mi, to one at in 4k. I can live with adding a quart per oil change interval.

Going forward, I think I'm going to drop the Rislone, who knows if it really added any improvement, but the engine as it sits is pretty clean, from what I can see.
Great results. I bet if you stick with it, you can get it back to factory levels which I believe is around 1/4 quart every 5k.

I'd make that the forever oil and move up to 5W-30 for additional protection against viscosity loss from fuel dilution...

What was run in its lifetime name any brands to list.
All full synthetic, mostly Valvoline and mobil 1. Some castrol and a round or two of Kirkland. Ran a quaker state euro and rotella t6 when I was trying to figure out if 40 weight would stop the burn.

Maybe not, it is coming up on 200k...

Either way it's an absolute win for consumption and the life of my cat

The fb25 doesn't really have a track record of shearing oil out of grade. By your logic I would have had to change her oil every 900-1100 miles initially.

It's the same design flaw that plagued many manufacturers, foreign and domestic, through the 2010s, low tension piston rings, that become stuck from consumption.

The real fix was what Subaru, Toyota, and Honda all ended up doing, re ringing the motor. But consumption didn't get to their self imposed level.

Burn rates are steady through the oci.

Maybe I will. I'm definitely going to continue using, Valvoline Restore and Protect. The results are too good not to.

I suppose 5w30 couldn't hurt.
