Thanks. I see some are using the SRT filters (WIX 57063) as well, though I'm confused as many say its because it flows better, but the flow rates are lower and bypass psi is lower too in the SRT version, hmm. So many decisions lol...

I hate Amazon with a passion, I've gotten so much fake stuff from there its not funny, and that's still buying mainly only sold n shipped by Amazon products too! :poop:

I'll check out CT and others, thanks :)
Me too ....Ive turned anti Amazon ....even Jeff Bezos looks like Dr. Evil! It seems like everything I was getting was broke when I got it. The last hing I bought was a 75 dollar coffee maker...they refused to take it back saying i used it and broke it. Bank of America finally reversed the charge after 6 weeks of going around and around. I bought some speaker that were fake....
Back when i was a kid in the 60's every kid looked forward to the Sears Christmas catalog ....to me Amazon has took the place of Sears....I never figured out why Sears failed and all Amazon is ....is a modern day Sears mail order.....

The mighty SRT filter is just another WIX paper media filter, so it's bellow the WIX XP. Just skip it. If you want the best compromise between filtration and flow, and want a filter built like a tank made with synthetic media, then get the Purolator BOSS PBL24651. Fram ULTRA XG2 is also a decent option, however, I just can't get past the thin & cheap construction of those filters. Their spun microglass media is very good though. Or you can keep bearing yourself up. Just do yourself a favor and skip all the Mopar filters, they're trash compared to the aftermarket.

First hemis were 5/30 in the ram back in 2003. I’m sure the wording is recommend MS spec xxxx if not available use any oil in spec weight

they key is good major brand oil changed on normal intervals. I doubt you will have a sludge issue on a hemi be a warranty claim. It would be a cam, lifter, long block issue if any during the power train period

They may ask for oil change reciepts. May not. If you really care buy an oil change package from an online dealer (less markup) and use it at your local dealer during the warranty period that way if anything went wrong they have all the records

I’ve been to court for warranty battles. The manufacturer doesn’t want you to go to that level as it costs them money. But it costs the vehicle owner more unless maybe they were an attorney themselves or had a free one. Plus your vehicle will be down since the initial visit for a long time and if you lose you basically have a torn down vehicle waiting to get towed away

I do it primarily out of convenience so I only have to stock one filter, except in my case it is the XG2.

You're putting those XG2 filters on pretty expensive vehicles. Are you ever concerned that they might fail due to the super-thin metal construction? The other thing I didn't like about these FRAM filters was the amount of glue they use in them, and where they use it. Why not spend a couple of bucks extra and charge more to build the filter a bit better?

Seriously?
Oh yeah ;)

For the most part, politics is the hypocrisy o business, or businesses, that claim to act in their customer's best interest when in fact all they want to do is line their pockets and the pockets of their business partners. It's pretty much the same in governmental politics, but I really don't want to go there. I'm sorry, but I am a cynic, and as such, I don't just take everything at face value. And finally, it's just my humble opinion, and I doubt that it's worth anything to anyone, except maybe to me.

In terms of filtration, it has I believe the highest efficiency on the market, that's why I used it. I did have a leak (it was in the filtration section, there's a thread) but FRAM sent me two new ones and took the old one for autopsy and it was at the gasket, not the can. I don't find them that thin? The Motorcraft/Purolator cans don't seem any thicker.

Oh, I know that the spun micro-glass they use is top-notch. Purolator filters are junk or average at best. I use the Purolator BOSS filters because they are actually built like a tank. However, their synthetic filter media is average. Their media is basically plastic, and that's why they can call it synthetic. If we could merge the construction of the Purolator BOSS with the FRAM Ultra's filtration media, we would have the ultimate filter. Do you hear that FRAM? Because I'm sure, Purolator wouldn't budge on upgrading their media.

I use the FRAM Ultra canister filters on the Santa FE. They are awesome.

In politics, the quid pro quo is denied. 😁
That's so true :)

There is that Pennzoil endorsement again... anyway... And the lie about having to use 5W-20 in the 5.7 HEMI for MDS to work, which is BS.

For the most part, I don't have a problem using 5W-20 in a properly built 5.7 HEMI. Except that in my 2016 RAM 1500 FCA (now Stellantis) decided to cut some corners. They couldn't fit the cheaper oil cooler that they use in the Charger and Challenger for the 5.7 HEMI because of the electronic power steering. The version that works requires a 45-degree filter adapter along with additional coolant pining, and that entire package is sold by Mopar for about $320. I'm sure that for RAM it would have been less than that. Still, the beancounters decided not to include it for the RAM 1500.

In essence, a Charger or Challenger equipped with the 5.7 HEMI has better oil cooling than a full-size pickup truck rated for towing about 9000 pounds. I have the "budget" 3.21 LSD diff. Otherwise, it would have probably been 11,000 pounds. I can tell you that when towing 3000~4000 pounds on a straight road the oil temps shoot to ~245F ~250F easily, and the transmission likes to start in 7th gear way more than in 8th all the time. Anyway, I decided not to bother installing the Mopar cooler in that tight space, and instead, I'm using a bigger oil filter and 0W-40 so that I don't grenade my own engine under load.

Now I wonder what kind of backward thinking goes into their decision-making process when they decided to provide better cooling for a passenger car than a pickup truck? @OVERKILL for example has a factory-installed oil cooler on his 2019 RAM 1500, so he can easily run 0W-20 in his motor all day long, and that's while towing 5000 pounds or more.

[Edit]

Look at the schematics below the 45-degree adapter: https://www.moparpartsinc.com/p/ADAPTER-Oil-Filter/66764664/04893315AC.html

If you add up everything needed to install this on my 5.7 HEMI, it's about $320 in parts.

I think I'll order some Wix XP filters and some other stuff from RockAuto...
Amazon looks to be $24+ taxes on the Puro or Wix filters anyways, heck no! lol...

Out of all the filters I recommended the WIX XP has the lowest flow rate. I would order the Royal Purple 20-820, Fram XG2 or Purolator BOSS PBL24651.
