Difference between PP and PP High Mileage?

I went to WalMart yesterday to pick up a jug of PP 0w20 to do my car's annual oil change. To my surprise they did not have my favorite PP 0w20 on the shelf but they had PP HM 0w20. So then I had a decision to make. Should I go ahead and get the PP HM or get regular M1 0W20? I have never used a HM oil.

So my question is, what is the actual difference between PP 0w20 and PP HM 0w20? Is it the exact same except for a seal conditioner added? Could there be any down side to the difference?

Well, the label is different.
Other than that, I'd doubt that there would be any difference in the oil that would matter.
I'd use either without a second thought.
All finished motor oils have seal conditioning agents. The HM might have more and might not.

I tried PP HM 5w30 for the first time this brutal winter in my 02 jeep 4.0 and will never look back. This was the best flowing oil at low temperatures (-30) then any other oil i have used. Almost instant oil presure. Also used a fram ultra on the jeep for the first time XG8A. Sticking with this combination.

Wow, really? Seems counter intuitive.

The difference is minute.

It does not meet Dexos 1, or gen 2, it has much higher calcium, it has almost 3 times as much moly. Depending on your vehicle it might not matter at all, I use PP HM 0W20. But I paid as low as $7.00 per jug for also. I would use a PP 5W30 Dexos G2, or a PP HM 5W30 if I had to pay full price for it.

I agree. Perhaps I should have elaborated a bit but my main point was to dispell the common belief that high mileage oil is thicker than regular oil of the same brand. That isn't true anymore even if the differences are tiny.

The biggest noticeable difference is more than likely the label

It can't have much higher calcium or it won't meet SN+.

Forgot about SN+, I have not seen a VOA, or a UOA on the new formulation. I have 20+ jugs of PP HM 0W20 SN, and its about 2000ppm calcium. Nothing I own needs SN+, nothing I own even needs SN, but there is nothing wrong with using it.

Well then don't state it has much higher calcium when it can't. If you can't handle being corrected then don't post false information.

Is there a VOA verifying the 3x moly over PP?
