tbch. the Ranger sold alot, enough to be kept in production.

When they came out with the Last Gen Thunderbird, Ford said they would keep it if it sold 25,000 units a year, it did not, but still, 25K units, the Ranger sold alot more than that!

There was a huge difference in pricing between the 11th generation Thunderbird and a Ford Ranger. The base price of a Thunderbird in 2002 was over 35 grand. A base model ranger was under 16 grand. That is over 100% difference in price try again. If the Ranger was profitable and could remain profitable after a redesign Ford would of continued the model.

This!

A lot more margin profit in a Thunderbird than a Ranger. So it is not an apples to apples comparison when both are sold in the same number.

the tbird didnt make the 25k needed to keep producing
regardless, the last year of the ranger sold 55k trucks

55,000 X 16,000 avg MSRP is 880,000,000$

25,000 Tbirds that they wants X 35,000 MSRP is 875,000,000$

if they wanted to keep the tbird if it sold 25k units, it woulda been on par with the ranger current sales.

and im sure a 16K ford ranger is cheaper to produce than a tbird. its virtually paid for, every year is a smaller tweak but the designs are the same mostly for rangers.

The cost of producing a T-bird and Ranger is off. People do not work for free. Continuing the production of the Ranger for American/Canadian market would not be cost effective. Ford will not just leave money on the table.
