We came long way when it comes to safety!
This fairy crash at Nurburgring proves how far we came when it comes to safety. BMW driver is at fault, although some think he did not see properly Porsche driver as it is right hand side vehicle (British plates). Porsche seem to make a move toward BMW. But, it is BMW’s responsibility on track to know surrounding. He supposed to give Porsche more space.
This crash is at approximately 115mph. Porsche is missing complete front end, but passenger compartment seems intact. All three people (2 in BMW) walked away from crash.

Another take (from an acquaintance) on the 911/M2 shunt; he agrees with all town...

...the BMW was running the Porsche a little close, but the Porsche shouldn’t have tried the move and he shouldn’t have hit the curb.

In the Bimmer’s defense, there are plenty of places on that track, including the one in the video, where relaxing the steering to permit an inside pass can put you at risk of running off the outside. I can see why he felt that he’d allowed enough room. I mean — by SCCA rules, he absolutely gave enough room.

Let’s give thanks for modern automotive engineering; it’s the reason both of these mooks are alive today. But it’s also why you have talentless wheel-wagglers running at triple digits with no concern.

I now see he hit the curb when you mentioned it. Yeah, he was pushing it for sure. When I see someone like that in the mirror on the track, I just back off.

In the motorcycle roadracing I've done, it is the responsibility of the one doing the passing, to do so safely.
It is responsibility of that one who is overtaking. However, BMW started to close in early.
In reality both are idiots. Porsche could wait better opportunity, and BMW could back off a bit.

Glad they walked away too.

Could it be the BMW driver's vision was impeded by his helmet?
Football players wear their helmets well before practices involving contact so they get accustomed to the narrowed field of vision.

Same question as above: Rookies or real racers?

Glad they walked away from a crash that severe.

That said, many people walk away from crashes but unfortunately many will still suffer severe life altering health issues days, months, even years later as a result.
