No, you are wrong. And all of your silly, rambling, petty B.S. doesn't change Webster's definition. It has nothing to do with, "being no longer made".

A "Reproduction" would be using the original design frame, alloy body, and running gear as the original. Either copied faithfully off an original, or using original drawings, mouldings and jigs.

Here's where I explained it using your Cobra example...

Here's what happens when you type in AC Cobra reproduction

Stop with all of your silly, stupid dramatics, and try reading what I actually wrote. These markets are not going anywhere simply because there is a huge demand for these products. It doesn't matter if you, or I, or anyone else doesn't like it, or approve of them. Nor does it mean, "everyone might as well be murderers".

When a watch company tries to sell a Stainless Steel watch for $5K, that someone else can manufacture for $300.00 or less and still turn a profit, they're going to. When a women's name brand fashion designer charges $750.00 for a handbag, that someone else can manufacture, and make money on, by selling it for $35.00, they're going to. Or if a company produces a Bi-Pod for over $300.00, when it can be made and sold for a profit for $30.00, it's going to be.

And there will be customers standing in line for it. As there are. With more buying every day. When you overprice an item to the point of total ridiculousness, someone else is going to produce the same thing cheaper. Add the global manufacturing business model we currently live in, and it's going to increase even further.

Perhaps these outfits would be better served if they stopped being so concerned about their, "intellectual property" going bye bye, and instead focus their attention on making their manufacturing costs and profit margins more reasonable. And in the process stop making their competitors business so lucrative.

But they don't. So these markets will flourish and become larger. While their products are continuing to become better and better. Which they are. The rules of profitable manufacturing and sales apply the same, regardless of the business they are applied to. And all of your whining, in some silly noble attempt to display your high moral tone, changes none of these facts in the least.

Running interference per your usual, with a bunch of B.S. doesn't change the fact you are wrong. The word we are discussing is REPRODUCTION. Try to stay focused cupcake.

WRONG.... Again. "the action or process of making a copy of something." When it is, or was manufactured has nothing to do with the definition. As you wrongly pointed out. Go over this again. It will sink in... Trust me.

OK, you can copy and past the same thing over and over and over again...I explained it better in my reference to YOUR Cobra example...twice...which is how many times you've ignored it...

Until you stop running interference, and constantly going off on tangents... Yes. Again, stay focused. Why is that so difficult for you? I'll admit this whole thing is petty. But that's what I get for trying to have a normal conversation with you. It's your trademark around here. A bit like these counterfeit Rolex's we're discussing.

I'm not "defending" anything. I'm simply explaining why there is such a successful market for these things. And why it's increasing at a very high rate. And I am of the opinion that the original manufacturers of these goods are partly to blame, by placing such exorbitant prices on their goods. Which is their prerogative to do. By doing so they are making the entire market for these much lesser cost reproductions that much more desirable. Not to mention lucrative for the manufacturers of them. Again, (why do I have to use that word so much?), What you or I, or anyone else thinks as far as approval or disapproval doesn't matter. It doesn't change the fact they exist, along with the reason why they do. Or why it is such a growing market.

And for the record the Bi-Pod I purchased was of such good quality, I ended up purchasing 2 more. And at least 3 other members of my local gun club bought them as well, after examining mine. You can dam us all you want. It doesn't change a thing. This is what happens when you start injecting personal feelings and opinion into business.

Not liking something won't make it go away. Or make it less desirable. And if you don't approve, I'm sure Atlas would simply love to receive a check from you for $330.00 for one of their Bi-Pods. If or when you're ever in the market for one. Especially if they know how much better you're sleeping at night for purchasing it.

If Rolex moved all their production to China, had no R&D, no marketing, used generic movements, had no Swiss chronometer certification, didn't water test every watch to it's rated depth, no warranty, and were merely copying someone else's watches with no retail location, rent, taxes, salespeople, etc. they could sell them for $300 on the internet as well. Although luxury goods have high margins, there are also good reason why they cost more.

They even fake the Casio F91-W digital watch which costs $12 for the genuine Casio. Potential profit for counterfitters is the main reason counterfitting occurs.

I agree to a point. But Rolex is not the only manufacturer of original luxury Stainless Steel watches. They are just one of the highest priced. There are a great many manufacturers of high quality Stainless Steel watches other than Rolex, who don't charge anywhere near $5K for their similar products. As a result, they are not counterfeited anywhere near as much. As you said, and I agree with, profit drives counterfeiting. The more there is, the more it will occur. And when you have a $4,700.00 price spread on a similar product, it is going to be massive.

Well, you obviously approve, or you wouldn't have bought the bi-pod you are now defending the purchase of.

No, that's what happens when, as camrydriver111 touched-on, you don't have to spend any money on R&D, domestic labour....etc. Nobody should be surprised that the Chinese can clone the design and make a profit with their labour costs. The fact that there is zero recourse for Atlas in having their product ripped-off in this manner is doubly insulting, but having consumers defend it points to an ethical deficiency with the consumer when they are knowingly making that purchase. There's a large rift between somebody being scammed on thinking they are getting a "good deal" and somebody knowingly buying a counterfeit product and by extension, supporting that market.

No, consumers not buying counterfeit products and IP copyrights being enforced in China would make it go away. But we can't force morals onto people anymore than we can control China's government. For the record, i have zero desire to buy counterfeit merchandise and I'd imagine that sentiment is shared by many, perhaps most, on this board.

Bit closer to home for BITOGers, is Pablo, site sponsor had (I think it's had) a business doing motorised conversions to bicycles, jackshaft gear and neutral conversions and the like.

Within months of him presenting the development...someone's hard effort, and time, and development...they were available online for massively reduced price, from knockoff suppliers.

No R and D, not time in development and testing...and if it messes up a month after you buy it no recourse to the supplier.

That's rip off...

Perhaps. But more importantly, I won't be overcharged for something. Atlas is free to sell their product at whatever price they choose. Just as I am free not to buy it. And I wouldn't regardless if a much cheaper repro was offered or not. You or Atlas can defend their price. It no longer matters because I as the consumer have already made the decision it's too much, and I'm not going to pay it. So based on that they've lost my sale. Where my money goes from that point is immaterial, because it's not going to Atlas.

It's no different than someone wanting to buy a tool chest, and rejecting a Snap On model because of it's ridiculous price. And instead drive over to Harbor Freight and purchase one of their U.S. General clones for 80% less. Same deal, made in China. Much like everything else they sell. But it satisfies the consumers needs who is buying it at a far cheaper cost. That matters.

I approve of the quality, yes. And I purchased it because of the price in relationship to that quality. Is it as high of quality as an Atlas? Don't know, and don't care, because the Atlas has priced themselves beyond what I am willing to pay. That's no one's fault but Atlas. Neither I or the people producing the repro for 90% less didn't set Atlas's price. Atlas did.... Just like Snap On. From there the chips fall where they may.

It's a Bi-Pod. Not a space probe. And to be perfectly honest, I don't care about their manufacturing costs. I care about what's coming out of my pocket. If their R&D costs are that high on something that simple, they better think about hiring a new engineering staff. On the contrary, I find it just as insulting that someone not only has the audacity to charge $330.00 for a Bi-Pod. But then be upset when someone else can produce something similar for 90% less of their cost.

Just what did they think would happen in today's international global market? As was said, high prices coupled with high profitability begs for something to be cloned. It's a 2 edged sword. And quite honestly I think there are people on this board more worried and concerned about all of this, than either Rolex or Atlas is.

And we both know that is never going to happen. And the reason is because people care more about their own personal economy, than they do the people who own and run the companies they feel are overcharging them in the first place. All with too high of prices that they as consumers have already made the decision they are not going to pay.

Remember, "rip offs" in business take place on a 2 way street. So instead they look for alternative products produced elsewhere that can accomplish what they want cheaper. Whoever can provide that product at what they feel is a fair cost, will get their hard earned money. It's why Wal-Mart and Harbor Freight are so financially successful.

People honestly don't care if these companies can justify their high costs or not. Because they're not interested in paying them either way. Just because something is manufactured to a high level of quality, with a price to match, does not guarantee it deserves, or will find a solid share of the market. Besides, it's always easier to be noble when you're spending other peoples money.

Now you resort to ad hominem attacks, since your straw-man argument was toppled and left burning in the ditch.

You have no scruples!

Really, it's far too easy.

Don't quit now. If Capone and Escobar don't work, surely Hitler is right around the corner.

What's next, are you going to tell me my cloned Bi-Pod was built by Chinese murderers? The air up there in Winnipeg is pretty clean from what I hear. You need to step out and take a breath of it.

That doesn't work, either. You brought up the example of thugs, terrorists, kidnappers and mass murderers, not me. You can look it up.

I'm outta here before a mod ends it for me. S'long.
