You have been tricked by the Ford marketing department. Truth is the new Focus is built on the same platform as the 2003 or 2004 Mazda platform. You heard that one right. The new Focus is a sheet metal job of the Mazda 3. Mazda 3 has been sold here for approx 7 years.

Plus, the Focus ( or should I call it Mazda 3 ) has a moster price tag so the UAW boys get to retire at 48.

Do yourself a favor. Get the new Consumer Reports magazine at your local bookstore. Flip to page 22. Read the long term reliability study. Honda and Toyota win. They win big. Ford, Mazda, and all other brands are junk after 7. Then, get the Honda Civic SI. That is the best machine in this segment.

Ain't that the truth GMBoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their reliability ratings are spot on. Their opinions leave something to be desired . I am almost positive the present CEO was the CEO of Hand Gun Control before Consumer reports. That is why I stopped the subscription

The consumers buy the Crud so the mfgs sell the crud.... Not even close to the CEOS pay package and that $$$ doesn't even build a car.

Anyone who believes consumer reports needs to be dunk his head in a bucket of ice water. Several times.

And on the JD Power thing, did Honda beat Ford? Yes. Did they win by a lot? No. Very, very close as I seem to recall. The Ford Focus is NOT built on the mazda3 as you so ignorantly stated. It is built on Ford's C170, and later the C1 platforms. These are entirely ford designed, and ford built. The mazda3 is assembled in Hofu, Japan. The Ford Focus is made in Wayne Michigan. The Ford Fusion, yes is based on the Mazda6 platform, which is perfectly reasonable since Ford OWNS Mazda. The 2.0L DOHC, and the 2.3/2.5L engines are both Mazda designs. Mazda gets the Ford V6s though. They share components. Explain to me where this is a problem.

Also, come off the whole UAW thing. My car, our expedition, and the jeep were all made in UAW plants, and you know what? I don't give a toss. Union or non union, makes no difference to me. The UAW doesn't affect me, and whether it exists or not, I could care less.

Consumer reports is a rag. I wouldn't pay a penny for it.

I 100% agree with your concern about gun control, I am totally against it, too. I am going to research and see if what you say is true and I will also cancel my subscription and let them know the reason why.

Yet of those vehicles you test drove...

1. Mazda3
2. Fusion Sport
3. Chevy Malibu
4. Nissan Altima
5. Ford Focus

...Consumer Reports recommends them ALL.

Surprise eh?
