Well, you cannot have "just in time" delivery of everything and "small government" yet still have readiness (inventories) and crisis management capability of large government.

You just cannot have it both ways, keeping the savings while having someone holding a lot of emergency services and goods for you at no charge.

We don't need large government...

"Just in time deliveries"... Are how the existing system works. Aka contracts.

Fuel contracts are set-up in a way to meet purchaser need and consumer demand.

There's gasoline to be had.

There are massive storage tanks in Yorktown near me. And there are numerous places and businesses that have storage tanks has well.

Gasoline has been delivered in my area today in fact.

It's just when everyone and their brother buys a singular item ALL at the same time... It runs out. That's the net results of panic buying.

"Just in time deliveries"... Is how grocery stores order products too... I know. I ordered grocery freight when I worked at Winn Dixie years ago.

Dairy and frozen food and deli foods and produce all are "just in time deliveries". Those have to be that way.

You don't have massive storage capability at the store level. So... We didn't have tons and tons of everything just waiting around collecting dust.

Gasoline is not different than a grocery store... You only have so much storage at the store level.

And no I don't believe more government is the answer.

In this circumstance.

I remember when the United States used low petroleum prices as an excuse to add to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. But that's relatively small and isn't used to store finished fuel. Fuel is also something that degrades with storage time given the standard storage conditions. It shouldn't degrade too much in a car's tank with a working emissions system, but I'm not sure if storage tanks keep out oxygen.

I never said things are falling apart....

I said...

Panic buying is the real problem here.

Get that straight.
I wasn't referring to you saying things were falling apart, I was referring to RazersEdge:

razors edge sounds like a prepper

Drove right up to the pump and filled up about 4 hours ago, no waiting and no lines. $279.9 per gallon and my wife did the same thing about 2 hours ago. This station has been out of gas station sporadically for the last several days. Probably should have bought a lottery ticket or two while I was on a roll!

I will say this about what he stated...

I agree with him on a certain level.

We are losing our sense of shared humanity... A coarsening of people in this society that is very, very concerning. We as people are dehumanizing each other to such a degree that is troubling.

Not that things are "falling apart".

You are sadly mistaken.

The world is in a sensitive state of mind, all I was trying to say is,keep your heads on straight, take care of your loved ones. Nothing more, nothing less.
well it never hurts to be prepared. people these days are animals. look at the toilet paper fiasco we had. it can be anything. if they think they may not have it they will buy it out.

Filling a tank is one thing. Buying every gas can in sight and then filling them up is overkill. It appears that a lot of these gas containers being filled were brand new.
