Our country is so ill prepared for any tiny blip on the radar. Lord save us. The nature of our people will be (already is) our very worst enemy. At least we will be able to shoot each other.

Sorry, just old man yelling at the clouds, LOL.

Yep + 10000000 %

Go through a natural disaster and you’ll quickly find out how unprepared our small and large cities really are. Utilities, water supply, electricity, gasoline, food distribution, phone lines, etc....

At work we have a Tcon this Friday to discuss the upcoming Hurricane season and all the possibilities, backup plans, etc.... cause it’s right around the corner.

Our society as a whole is weak, has been for awhile now. Look out for yourself and family and the people who are in your immediate circle. Be prepared, strong and learn how to not follow the sheep, the wolves are the strong.

Florida gets very little from Colonial yet.....we too are out of gas everywhere.

A direct connection probably doesn't matter so much when there's so much pressure to get fuel from every available source. This is really messing up delivery contracts. I wonder if something like this is considered force majeure for purposes of contract deliveries.

Besides that - this is irrational buying. This is the sort of thing that could happen with rumors about any possible supply crimp.

I'm in Edgefield, SC, just outside of Augusta, and it's hit and miss on gas. The two gas stations here in this small town, that may get a truck every 2 weeks, are out of gas. The ones right off I-20 still have gas though a couple only have premium. I have to drive to Concord, NC on Friday to join up with Elite for the 4-wide Nationals at zMax. I have a full tank in the Mustang that will get me there and back with ~1/4 tank to spare. I will be hypermiling it, coasting when possible, keeping the speed down, and idling as little as possible. Others should be doing the same, not hoarding fuel.

Great point here.

A whole, whole lot depends upon HOW often a station gets delivered fuel.

It's contract driven.

A station can be out of gas... But if it's not time for their delivery... They ain't getting any until the contract times say so.

The small 4 pump station near me gets delivery 4 nights a week. They got gas delivered last night.

I'm going to stock up on dog/cat food while nobody is watching. There's the next attack and it will really piss Americans off. Nobody is going to tolerate Kitty and Buddy going hungry.

Because it took a good 10 hours of "screwing around with the settings" to get it right, and nobody bothered to document the settings that work, and the guy who did it last time left for a better job....
If so ... more lack of training. I get a vision of Homer Simpson manning the control panel at the nuclear power plant.

Very good...

I think Katrina was worse than this circumstance.

Or in my area Hurricane Isabel was worse. Due to zero power at many, many gas stations.

There was a line about a mile and a half long from a station in southern Gloucester county...

I was like heck no... I drove north to Saluda. Gas station open had power and gas... I was the 4th car in line. Worth that 25 min drive North on Rte 17.

Well, you cannot have "just in time" delivery of everything and "small government" yet still have readiness (inventories) and crisis management capability of large government.

You just cannot have it both ways, keeping the savings while having someone holding a lot of emergency services and goods for you at no charge.
