I just waxed my car with Collinite 845 today. I am thinking about following up with an application of CarPro HydrO2.

1. Is this a good idea?
2. Do you have a better idea?
3. How long should I wait before I apply the HydrO2?

Thanks!

Putting HydrO2 over 845? I'm not sure that the HydrO2 would really adhere properly, and so I suspect the finish would not be the best. Might also get streaking/spotting.

Just stick with the 845. I think you'll find the protection and shine are extremely long-lasting without anything else over it.

collinite has some great stuff! i think thats what i have, makes a black color deep + dark. its easy + the best i ever used on black!!!

I agree. My wife's Impala looks mint after it is done as did my old 09 Sierra. My white Ram also looks great after it is done but pales in comparison to my wife's car.

SirTanon is correct. Stay with the Collonite.

Always good to wax your vehicle before a hurricane?

Stick with the Collinite 845. It will easily last until spring.

Anytime is a good time to wax my cars.
Ha

Collinite customer service said Meguiars ultimate wax would be good to use over the 845. They said HydrO2 wouldn't have anything to bind to with the 845.

I'd go with 2 coats of the 845 instead of two different products. Just allow ample time for the product to cure before re-coating it. If I'm ambitious I'll wait 24 hours, otherwise I'll apply the second coat the next time I wash the car.

My attempt at logic was to wax my car and then apply some sort of sealant over the wax thereby prolonging the life of the wax job. In theory it seems very practical and logical and wise.

Wouldn't a wax over the sealant be better? Or pick one and apply two coats? That's what I've been doing with Menzerna Powerlock.

There you go thinking again. LOL

I was thinking "seal the wax" and you are thinking "wax the seal."

It sure does look awesome sitting in this prehurricaine rain with the water all beaded up.

It's always preferable to put sealant on first then wax. There are a lot of opinions on the value of this. My opinion would be to use a good sealant, and the Collonite is one, and then adopt a spray wax as you dry Regimen for the maintenance car washes.

Yes, I try and think all the time. lol My logic is to have the wax, protect the sealant. But to be honest I just prefer two coats of the Powerlock and then wash the vehicle as needed.

Yeah sealant would go first then the wax on top. This video has some information on it, he has some others with 845 also: Collinite 845 liquid wax
Haven't tried it I just throw a coat of 845 on but apparently Power Lock Plus & 845 work good together. Some sealants won't work with some waxes but that seems to be a good combo.

I use Collinite 925 (it's their boat wax, but the same as 845) in a mix with Duragloss sealants routinely. It saves a step and gives beautiful protection without issues.

Wax won't adhere properly doing it that way. You want a high pH wash soap like Purple Power Vehicle and Boat or Turtle Wax MAX. You need to STRIP all the wax and wax like products OFF before you apply any wax or sealant.
