Coffee - Your Current Brew

My wife bought a few of these Oxo Pop containers for rice, barley etc...
POP Container - Big Square Medium (4.4 Qt.) https://share.google/ySXYkHY4S2kXWJ6gj

I'm going to ask her to get a large one for the beach....the stainless canisters are ok if you're making coffee every day. 2 weeks with the clip on the bag is ok. 2 months probably isn't.
I keep my ground coffee in an OXO too!🍻
Ours is a smaller model though I think.

I got kicked out of the "best low cost" coffee thread so here is what I'm drinking:

Guatemalan "La Flor del Cafe" roasted to a good medium or a little bit darker than medium, brewing with our new Lelit Mara X espresso machine that we've had for a couple of weeks now.

Coffee has been a point of contention, with how expensive beans have gotten in the past couple of years. We have strayed from our normal Colombians due to cost. This Guatemalan is pretty good though. It's not my favorite bean ever, but I do feel like our coffee game has really never been higher. A really good coffee machine makes every bean taste better. Our old Jura made good and convenient espresso, but it's amazing me just how much of an improvement there was to be had with a real espresso machine.

I have never tasted a coffee this bright in my life.

First of all, the (local roasted) beans are super super fresh. The crema is amazing. It's medium roasted at best. Dry, like no evolved oils.

The flavor is acid forward. Citric-key I could say, smells sweet so I tried way under extracting - and MORE acid. Well very interesting coffee that pairs quite well with chocolate and pure heavy cream and a little tiny bit of sweetener. I actually maybe wish a little more roasted but low oil, who knows.

It makes a good espresso cup but not straight up, maybe better for pour over.

Thoughts welcome!?!

I blended the beans with my homemade blend. Much better to my taste. I do love custom blending. Makes the best coffee!

Cafe' La Llave for Nespresso. Reminds of my visits to Cuba and their cafe' fuerte!
Daughter brought me some coffee from Cuba. Back during the short time Americans could vacation there she hurried to check it off here countries visited list. The beans were in a used coke bottle and tasted like dirt. But it was authentic, Cuban grown, roasted, bottled, and sold on the street.
Have had this several times before. Always good. Just tore into this bag this AM. I think it would make a great espresso in my Gaggia Brera. It was on sale at Costco.

Tried that and didn't really care for it. I was hoping for a stronger dark roast taste.

I have a similar story. I made the mistake of buying coffee at the duty free on my home from Cuba many years ago, it was ground, not whole bean and tasted like soil, I tossed it in the compost. Not that buying whole bean is guaranteed to be better, as I also recently found out (see post # 2064).

Illy Classico Whole Bean 100% Arabica. I pulled the seal tab on the vacuum sealed tin yesterday and poured a few servings worth into the bean hopper. Nice aroma, roast and crema with no bitter aftertaste, but @ $60/kilo, I've had better espresso for less. Would I buy it again if it's on sale? Yes.

I have a pack of Nescafe Classic instant coffee from Greece so that's what I'm drinking this week. Apparently, made in Switzerland...
