Hello and good evening BITOG faithful

Looking at replacement coffee maker for my Kenmore one that died on me. Thinking of a Keurig but open to suggestions.
Thank you

I'm a fan of Krups. I've had two of their warmer-less carafe brewers, and really like them. Both of mine are quite old and no longer in production (the newer one is a 10-year old FMF-4), but looking at their website the ET451 looks like a similar unit with more whiz-bang timers.

Keurig (and other single-cup brews) never taste right to me. nor does coffee made in the fast-drip machines like Bunn. Single-brew is also ridiculously expensive, since each cup costs about what a whole pot of regular coffee does.

What kind of drinker are you? Keurig is a by the cup system and the price of pods are now coming down. Just picked up 2 48 pod boxes of Martinson coffee for $10 a box. Green Mountain if your lucky is half a buck a pod but Sams Club stuff is around 35 cents a pod in a big box. Cuisinart makes some good products. My 4 cup cone basket brewer lasted over 3 years. If you get a Keurig I would recommend a warranty extention. We hatched out two systems before the 55o that seems to be a year old now and the 350 is 2.5 years. Gave as Xmas present a 550 and it didn't last till March.

440Magnum: I have had coffee from a Keurig and I liked it

bioburner: I have maybe 2 cups of coffee in the morning, 1 with breakfast and 1 for my to go coffee.

Keurig is convenient but expensive. If you like iced coffee the new Ninja coffee machine is a must. It does an excellent job. It also does a good job with regular coffee. You have the convenience of doing one cup or a carafe as well.

I like the Keurig, it's nice to have one cup of coffee without brewing an entire pot. I buy the K-cups at Costco, a box of 120 are $38 and they are frequently on sale for $33

I've had a Keurig for a few years now. I use coffee from Rogers Family Coffee, which is less expensive than the Keurig brands.
It works well because I don't drink coffee every day, and when I do it's only a cup or two. The Keurig we have is also capable of doing a carafe, so when we have guests who would like coffee we can accommodate them as well.

Love Keurig cup coffee, but I'm not a fan of the coffee makers. They don't last more than 8-12 months, yes, we clean it often like the directions say.

We bought a Cuisinart, owned it for over a year now and it's been brewing away with not issues, and we've hardly had to clean it!

+1 garbage

I brew it in an insulated flask, then I filter it, with either a paper or. lately, a stainless steel conical filter.

Nothing much to break.

What are these machines for?

I have a little $15 "5-cup" drip job from Target. It makes 3 full size cups of fine coffee. That's how much I drink throughout the day, so it works for me.

This. I have an older Krups that is going strong and I hope it never breaks. Someone gave me a Keurig, it was fine but expensive and I gave it away and went back to the Krups. I brew a small pot every morning and purchase freshly ground coffee at the market, nothing like it.
