Coffee is coffee. Period.

I like Expresso, and I have a machine. Still prefer regular drip in the end.
Some people!

Truly it is taste preference

I used to detest coffee

Then I really detested espresso.

But I was addicted to caffeine!

Green tea - some few varieties have fairly high caffeine

Anyway 2005 I dropped green tea for work coffee! Yikes….downhill from there

Ehhh, but is it REALLY coffee? Spray-dried coffee powder? I think not. I feel the same about a chickory blend too unless I'm enjoying a cup at Cafe du Monde in NOLA.
It looks like a light instant coffee, you just add water.

Muschroom Coffee.webp

Oh, and sorry to hear about your doppleganger appearance 😁.
LOL!

I've also been told I look like a cross between Leonardo DiCaprio and Dolph Lundgren. Except MORE handsome and MORE muscular!!!

I don’t know that I could get on with any form of wake me up that isn’t a black dark roast coffee. Even when I’d still occasionally grab an energy drink during the day, my morning had to start with black coffee. Sometimes that morning starts at 9pm, but that part is just the life of a railroader.

Coffee is religion to me. I’m not looking for something weird in my cup.
I think the "weird" is the spokesperson.

I like good coffee. I'll drink what is available also.

Someone mentioned Hampton Inn Coffee. If you mix 1/2 the light roast with 1/2 the dark roast you end up with something that is better somehow. I have stayed in a lot of Hamptons over the years.

A bunch of the new IHG hotels are getting the machines that grind the beans and brew. Its not gourmet, but its better.

Best coffee so far: BJ's Organic Sumatra Whole Beans, ground and brewed at home in a drip machine. Silky, dark and slightly oily. Fragrance and flavor are amazing.

Worst coffee ever: BJ's French Roast K Cups. All K Cups have a slightly plastic taste, but this one tastes as if it was mixed with landfill leachate.

Best and worst under the same roof!

I was excited when I first saw Royal Farms had these high end grind and brew machines....but the coffee was disappointing.
Ever since I bought the twin Moccamasters and decent grinders, my expectations have changed.

As I sit here, enjoying my 3rd cup (actually 6th if you get technical since my mug is 8oz.) of the velvety black goodness with the beguiling aroma, I'm reminded of a commercial I saw recently where Neil Patrick Harris is hawking mushroom "coffee". Uh, no Doogie, that is NOT coffee. They must have snuck some "magic" mushroom in his. Now yes, he is a card carrying member of the skinny jeans, tree hugging, ultra progressive, all natural everything, kind of folk, but c'mon. Coffee from roasted mold spores? Riiiiight. No thanks. I prefer mine to be grown from beans, on some hillside in Central or South America, dried on a terra cotta rooftop, and brought to market in bags on the back of a donkey by Juan Valdez or someone similar. Roasted in a hundred year old vessel that does a bagful at a time, ground (conically please), and then had hot water dripped over top of it into my (oversized) cup. Ahhhhh. Also, coffee is not made from chickory, ground walnut shells, sawdust, or any other crap like that. Coffee is coffee. Period. And I'm also on the edge with decaf. Yes, I know some need to drink it for health reasons and all, but not having caffeine kinda neuters it. Coffee (caffinated of course) was made to be black, and thick like asphalt, and keep you up all dang night, just as it did me for so many years. Or write rambling diatribes like this. Enjoy your coffee 😁.
yeah buddy.

my new thing is Folgers Classic I think, well Folgers either way, and one scoop of protein powder, with 30g of protein, and 3g of Creatine. No sugar, no cream.

Gives new meaning to "pump you up". I also add about 8-10oz. of cold brew to my protein shakes in the blender. Throw in a banana and it's good to go. I use the grind from my regular drip to make the cold brew, which is my go-to in the summer over ice. No cream, no sugar, and if pumpkin spice ANYTHING got close to it, I'd slap a b-i-t-chicken 😁.

Ironically, I discovered Dunkin cold-brew on a recent trip to and back from Florida. Stuff was excellent. I asked what coffee roast they use for it and the lady told me they just grind the original roast beans and do a 24 hour "brew". May have to make the switch to their whole bean Original soon, as my boutique roaster has raised the price of their whole bean by almost 50% to over $20 a pound :(.

QT here did the same thing. Royal Farms in a fancy machine. Meh. But the Spinx has been making RF in a standard brewing machine for years and it's worlds better then the QT. Alas, no roller grills at Spinx so I have to get my breakfast taquitos at the big red place 😁.

And yeah, a GOOD coffee maker with a good grinder is life changing. Get the right beans and nirvana.

I know. You see 3 maybe 4 choices of beans in those things and you get excited...but I've tried all the different ones at ROFO...hit the "leave room for cream" option, watch it do it's thing and then add a bit of half and half... drinkable but disappointing ☹️.

What are these store of thee?

BJ's is a wholesale club like Costco. Not the type of place you'd expect to get premium roasted whole beans. But yeah, they are supreme. Better than Seattle's Best, which is now my second favorite.

Hmm - you could be onto something right there. Does the protein powder have anything in it? I'm assuming whey protein, so is the coffee creamy?

I think Dunks has chicory in it. It gets a little inconsistent up here. Sometimes you get a great cup, others can be terrible. Moreso with the hot coffee because I think each store has different water temperature settings.

Muscle Tech Isolate Whey, Chocolate flavor. I put half scoop per cup in the morning, 2-3 cups, 30 - 45 g of protein
