Castrol GTX HM 10W-40 $1.65/qt AAP

03/27/24 I received 1 Gift Card for $50

04/16/20 (Today) I received 24 Gift Cards for a total of $1330, I was approved for $1570 even according to rebate tracking, so I will have to make a call to see where the remaining $240 is.

Update: 2 of the cards that I tried to check the balance on, said the card was invalid, called customer service and they said, some of the cards that were sent out to customers were not activated and that might be the case with mine, so they will check all the 24 cards for activation and they will also send me the remaining $240 at the same time.

better than Pennzoil / Quaker State which have previously stopped replying on some old rebates that I sent in, and pretended like it didn't happen (the gift card rebates from Pennzoil have always been successful for me so far)
You spent under 300$ to make 1570$ of gift cards. Not bad

can you explain the math on this $300? I clearly spent way more than that.

I bought around 300 Jugs...of which they only approved 162 jugs, even though they all qualified according to the rebate Ad that was offered, the limit was 999...

The prices that I paid for the 5-quart jugs were as follows:
  • Castrol GTX High Mileage 10w40 = $10.65 (10%) and $8.45 (90%)
  • Castrol Extended Performance 0w20, 5w20, 5w30 = $13.13 (30%) and $10.45 (70%)
approximately 35% were Castrol GTX High Mileage 10w40 and 65% Castrol Extended Performance 0w20, 5w20, 5w30

I paid anywhere from 8 to 10% (we will use 9% as an average) in taxes and didn't really spend much extra on gas as I only went to stores that were on my way during a road trip or a chore. Let's just say that I spent $50 extra in gas, and yes I drive an older Toyota Corolla that is fully maintained so I get great gas mileage.

DescriptionCostCost
Castrol GTX$10.65$8.45
Castrol EP$13.13$10.45
DescriptionCostCostQuantity
Castrol GTX$10.65 x 0.10$8.45 x 0.90300 x 0.35
Castrol EP$13.13 x 0.30$10.45 x 0.70300 x 0.65
DescriptionCostCostQuantity
Castrol GTX($10.65 x (0.10 x 105))($8.45 x (0.90 x 105))105
Castrol EP($13.13 x (0.30 x 195))($10.45 x (0.70 x 195))195

Castrol GTX = ($10.65 x (0.10 x 105)) + ($8.45 x (0.90 x 105))
Castrol EP = ($13.13 x (0.30 x 195)) + ($10.45 x (0.70 x 195))

Castrol GTX = $111.825 + $798.525 = $910.35
Castrol EP = $768.105 + $1,426.425 = $2,194.53

Total = $3,104.88
Taxes @ 9% = $279.44
Gas = $50

Overall Total = $3,434.32
Rebate = $1,620
Overall total - Rebate = $1,814.32

but the rebate being a Gift card for AAP only to be used for auto parts or tools, with their inflated prices (2 to 2.5 times the cost) compared to RockAuto or Amazon, the possible value of approximately $1620 / 2 = $810

Overall total - adjustment for the value of the Rebate = $2,624.32 this was my approximate cost for 300 Jugs which is great but not as good as people think it is...

Well there giving me 3 cards 80$ for 8 qts of 10w-40 GTX from store#1 60$ for 6 qts in store#2 and last 20$ for the 2qts from store#3 1.65$ from all stores. Now I did perchased the gold bottle jugs and qt for 13.xx or lower and 3.75 or lower for qts. But I only apply for the GTX rebate. That what this thread is about instead of 10$ for 5qt they gave us 10$ a qts. Now I have not got any gift cards yet. But it said that’s what I’m getting.

I received 3 cards totaling $250, still waiting on more.

All 3 do not work. Could you share the telephone number you called?

I just checked my gift card balance and got an alert that there's an issue with the gift card, so I may have received an inactive card.

Ask for Carrie, she is the manager there and a very nice lady who understands what customer service means

I am tired of the new age pathetic customer service that other companies offer, if a company makes a mistake you have to make it right or make up for it, not bother or annoy customers.

I just got off the phone with the AAP She said to me there trying to setup a way that the stores could load the amounts of your balance on the card/cards in the stores. BUT THEY DONT KNOW IF THEY CAN YET. She then told me there’s 20,000 customer in the stores of people trying to use them. She also said this problem maybe not fixed for 30-60 days at this time I told her it been 4 mouths already so she took my information with the card numbers an added me to the escalation process and my 3 cards should be live in 5-7 days. I don’t how much of this is true if at all but call and KEEP YOUR PAPER WORK WITH THE AMOUNTS OF THE REBATE

I just checked my three cards and they now show a balance. I did not receive a confirmation e-mail but figured I'd check.

Going to try and use one right now.
