Castrol GTX 5W20 - 25,056Miles - 07 Galant ES 2.4L

Castrol GTX doesn't have boron or moly, does it? Both show up in this report. My guess is that if the OCI really was 25K miles, it had several quarts of make-up oil added, possibly w/o the owners knowledge/memory.

The oil sheared long ago, and then began the process of thickening. The TBN is due to the additional oil added, which may have been 10w30, 5w30, SAE30, 15w40, who knows.

That's my guess.

Most of the wear metals are probably stuck in the sludge.

Nope. It would be "wear (Fe) metals THROUGH the roof" and "the engine has been destroyed"

only if it was M1 could not be Amsoil to bad this motor will only make 400k miles.

Show the proof the engine has been destroyed do you know more pablo

I know the answer!

It's really only 2556 miles since everyone KNOWS that conventional oil can only last 3000 miles.. And Fram filters blow up the engine right away.

And we wonder why people don't run and post UOAs here....

Who needs it.

Everyone has their mind set and anything showing ANYTHING different from their mindset is [censored].

To the OP. If you have the mods change the title to Mobil 1 or some other syn and have them delete the Fram filter comments (and other thread) you'll have a real impressive UOA here.

Sorry to be harsh but come on....

I beleive it, people here are too fixed on fantasy synthetic oils being the only good thing for the engine. However, I do think that there was make up oil added.

Dino oil has come a long way; So have motors!

I have my doubts about the accuracy of the report. For starters they listed the oil wrong on the report, strike one. Who even knows if the report is correct or not? Sorry not bashing, but I just don't buy it. Every time I convince myself of the value of these things I see a screw up and it turns me off again. JMO

I think it's highly questionable. Dino may have come a long way, it has, but this is far outside the norm any UOA I've seen here before. The results are incredible.

This isn't about the, major chip the shoulder, dino vs synthetic debate, that obviously some would like to make it. This is about common sense, reality, and the stated uncertainty, of how long the oil was truely run. And how much oil was added, if it was a 25K OCI.

Spin it how you choose, but there is room for many questions here.

That's a real testament to Castrol GTX. Wow, what a long time to run a conventional. The wear results would have looked even better if the engine didn't have 20,000 miles on it when she started this OCI. That engine was still breaking in.

I surely wouldn't run it this long every time, though. Why? Nothing factual, it just doesn't feel right, lol.

The solids would be higher. There would have been some consumption. I'm sorry, but I think the oil may have been changed a couple times.....

supposed to be 5W20, according to oil changed sticker on windshield, the oil was last changed at Wally World so I do not know.

It's not a matter of trust, just maybe she forgot or someone else did it for her in the year plus time frame, that's all. There is enough doubt to be skeptical.

Well I am sorry Pablo but you are wrong, as you are with so many other things. This oil was not changed in almost a year. It went 25000 miles, she drives over 2000 miles a month, 50 miles each way to and from work, mostly highway. I said the sticker said it was supposed to be 5W20 because Blackstone said the viscosity read at a 5W30 level. Only doubt comes from your own head. She isn't stupid but the last thing on her mind is car maintenance, she is one of the people who knows how to pump gas, refill the windshield washer reservoir, put air in tires, gas is go brake is stop. She lives with her mom, no dad around, neither know anything about maintenance of a vehicle.

I wasn't insulting you, so please don't attempt to insult me. I find it highly unlikely no oil was added, 0.3 % insolubles doesn't seem realistic. Is this such a big thing to question?
