Castrol Edge 10w40

I recently moved to Omaha. I can get Edge black bottle, 10w40 only on clearance, for $3.50a qt. Id run it in winter since i run conventional in the summer 5w30. Considering this great deal, can i run 10w40 in a nebraska climate?

If I had 5w30 and 10w40, the 10w40 would be my summer oil, not the 5w30

I wouldn't buy it if you haven't already.

Regardless what time of the year you run it, a 10W40 will reduce your fuel economy vs a typical GF-5 5W30.
So in reality, your not saving money buying 10W40 at $3.50 a quart vs a 5 QT jug of 5W30 at Wal-Mart for 20 something dollars.
