For those that care, I have been running Castrol EDGE full synthetic 5w30 in both of my 3.6L V6 vehicles since I changed the break in oil @ 500 miles.
Both cars, 2022 Charger and Challenger, have been running perfectly, sharing both the Arizona HOT summers with the So. Cal. mild winters. I change the oil myself every 5k and use WIX filters.
ZERO issues with both cars @ 49,000 + miles on each.
LOVE MY MOPARS!

Based on what? The car is already seeing the viscosity of 20w-50 and then some every time it’s cold started. A 0w-20 is as thick at 65C as a 20w-50 at 100C.

The engine sees that viscosity every time it’s started.
That oil might not play well with the VVTI system oh no a heavy 20w50 might set off a CEL or even worst explode 💥

We should be clear though when we say an oil is too thick, that it’s only and always the 20w part and never the 50 grade part.

Even a 60 grade is thinner than every 20w, because no oil grade disparity is large enough to bridge the gap in test temperatures.

The heaviest kv100 that can even be called a J300 oil grade is 26.2 cSt.

But a 25w is allowed to go to 13,000cP at -10C as a “min max”.

At 40C, 0w-20 is thicker than a 60 grade is at 100C.

Thus, the winter rating is the only end that’s ever too thick.

If a 0w-60 existed, it would work in almost every car made.
