Cars that should not be a 4 door.

Fresh from the Motor Mountain car show in Kimberley, BC, Canada. There was a time when no one would bring a four door to a car show. The two doors must be too expensive.

2 door Hardtop, Nomad & Convertible '57 Chevrolet Belair's bring BIG money, Probably the most expensive to purchase of 50's domestics.....Maybe second to the Corvette?

Seemed like every other guy was restoring a '57 Chevy in the 80's & 90's, Lot's of nice 4-doors got cut up to revive 2-doors.

Back in the late 90's when I was the repo liquidator for a small car finance company (they got bought out and absorbed a few years ago) and we repo'd a fairl decent black four door '57 Chevy from a kid who was stationed at Camp Lejeune. Couldnt give the dang thing away. Ended up selling at auction for a couple grand, I forget the exact amount but it was way, way lower than what we loaned out on it. I was in Cincinnati and it was in North Carolina or I would have bought the thing myself and parked it in a barn. I know the 4-doors didnt have anything near the value of a 2-door but I ran that poor thing through the auction a dozen times and just couldnt get a bite. I talked to every dealer and wholesaler I knew down there, same answer every time. "Its a four door, nobody wants that...."

Here's a bit of a twist on the topic. I get nostalgic every so often and search for information about my first car, a 1970 Grand Prix. I came across something recently that said that generation was built on the 4-door A-body chassis. That allowed them to make a longer 2-door without designing it from the frame up.

Cayenne, O.K I get it sort of - it is an SUV.

But this? Why?! When VAG has AUDI A6 and A8 !

u probably did not need the bed much?
I dont need the dors (esp off rd as back east, here, we need 'smaller') as
it makes the vehicle harded to park & ambulate the streets. I never need the passenger space,
not even the co-pilot's~

"...Y?..."
sales!
It's their poorest selling car. For year 2021 Porsche sold 6x Macans and 4x Cayennes vs. the Panamera **

I have seen Panamera sitting in airport lobbies. A real head shaker design.

I am not a Porsche fan so I don't really care :)

Maybe if I had owned a mid sixties 912 I would be

Notice how much better the 2 door version looks:
I am with Pablo, I like the Fordor better-er :geek:

Also the Tempo / Topaz fraternal twins where much nicer cars. The Dukes and Duchess of rental fleets.

You could also order up a Topaz GS V6 with a 5 spd!

Can you say: r-a-c-e-c-a-r !
