4 door and soccer mom bus Porsches are just embarrassing. They should've stuck to making only performance sports cars.
Porsche likely would have gone bankrupt if they didn’t start building the Cayenne

Yes, I am thankful the Cayenne and Panamera are popular. It means they have more $$ to develop 911.Porsche likely would have gone bankrupt if they didn’t start building the Cayenne
Your Dad was a practical guy!My dad only bought 4 door sedans. I never thought of them as cool. He also drove beetles and would have bought a 4 door one if they made it.
Probably why I dislike 4 doors now.
He bought a brand new 1968 valiant when mom was preggo with me and we had it till about 2016 when I sold it.
If it was a 2 door I would have kept it and put a 340 in it.
& my Aussie friends built me a great 4dr performance sedan too!,I know what my Austrailian friends would say about a BIG 2dr Charger:
“Why only two doors?…. That is like inviting another couple over for dinner then asking them to crawl in through the dinning room window.”
He was born in 1925 and grew up in the depression.Your Dad was a practical guy!
that actually looks like something AMC could've made
I find it HARDER to get in the back of a 4 door. Trying to squeeze between That pesky post and then the intrusive wheel well. Example the wife's midsized outback. Yes I have to ride "out back" when we are visting my relatives near the Cape. Gm had it right with that angle tilting split bench in the 60's and 70'sYes, all those cars would be improved (and sell more) if they were less functional.
Whachoo talkin' bout Willis?Pickup trucks used to look funny with 4 doors. Now, they look funny with only two doors. It's like something is missing.
not sure the 'detroit lean' but 4 me? race mode (on twisties) is more european - back close to 90* arms slightly bent, legs too, feet slightly lower than hips. Now dat's a 2dor.Small side-track:
Two door car designers apparently limited the front seat adjustability.
In my experience, two door cars' front seat backs will not adjust so the driver can sit 'up-to-the-wheel'.
It's as if they wanted the, "Detroit lean" (arms straight back etc.) to be a pose.
Sure, two door cars if it's a "2 door car design"; otherwise 2 door cars (2 door versions of 4 door cars) are stupid.
My uncle always preferred 2 door Oldsmobiles and they were ALWAYS inappropriate, clumsy and made my Aunt slam every car door hard enough to break the glass.
Well, there have been several made over the years....One of my daughter's boyfriends wrote a book that included a story about riding in the back seat of a Corvette. I said I'll bet you $100 you can't find me a picture of a Corvette with a back seat. Nope I said this is not a bet, I'll pay you $100 for a photo of a Corvette with a back seat. He hasn't collected yet! I think it would be pretty stupid to have a vehicle with 4 doors without a back seat.
+2As a kid I remember all sorts of Chevy 5-6-7 4 doors going to the wreckers. The two doors were mostly saved and restored. Now I’m seeing the remaining 4 doors showing up at car shows.
Definitely should be a 4: Buck LeSabre 4 door HT are the most George Jetson of the space age!As a kid I remember all sorts of Chevy 5-6-7 4 doors going to the wreckers. The two doors were mostly saved and restored. Now I’m seeing the remaining 4 doors showing up at car shows.
I actually specified a regular production model (not a one of, a custom or a factory prototype). I think I'm still pretty safe.
